another side would have had a player drop and fake an injury and klopp get 4 or 5 of them over for a talking to. again too honest. klopp demanded the crowd get behind them at 0-2 and there was no reaction to him. its a bit late at that point. Gomez wandered into 6 on top of our two as well. Tsimikas decided he should sit close ot vvd so therewa sliterally no outball. I mean this is ****ing basic. its not class from atlanta, its an easy man marking job.
again it was rolled to macca who put it back the kelleher who sloly put it out to knoate. ONE atlanta player closed down. ONE. the others just pretty much stays in station. We can see gomez wander back form the middle but their foward cut the passing lane easily. roll it on again. the players are literally walking around, not even jogging. Endo walked forward, their player walked after him. We can just see a boot of an lfc player bothering their arse to finally move into the space behind those cms. Note gomez has again wandered off and is bascially out of the game behind macca. hes not avaiable and killing the width we now see its gakpo. Ins the squence he walks in looks behind himself but never runs, never demans the pass that was clearly on if he moved 2 yards towards our right side quickly and pointed. kelleher wasn't even looking. he just hoofs it up into the sky at nobody long. this was rinse and repate constantyl. Look at the lines of the pen area. Gomez is in on that zone being marked out. tsimiaks is on ther eo nthe other side. The cbs are midles wide and theres two forwards having the run of the middle still. absolutely zero witdh and playing really slowly. No energy to run 5 yards to receive a ball (not spint, just move at more than walking pace)
Again. Look at endo. He rolled it back to kelleher here and then is actually walking towards his marker. Konate has absolutely no outball. gomez again on the line of the pen zone. not out on his line. not available. Tsimikas again exactly the same really narrow. Macca, 7 is on his back. if the ball ever comes. The two cms didn't move anyone around, didn't attempt to make space. the two full backs were never available to their CBs for a pass. we can see again gakpo who is lw standnig in the middle no moving either. we never see jones (the other cm) or elliott there are no outballs as we are not creating them. Good midfield play moves side to side to shift those players marking out of the game. Jones should be in the pocket behind these two CMs and having a field day. where is he? Both CB shoudl at the very minimum should have a pass on to their full backs, the keeper and thier cb partner. they were down to passing to the keeper. Slow slow lethargic play. this was not a tacial masterclass from atlanta, it was a basic game plan made look better than it was by a shambolic performance that has no energy to it at all.
look at goal 1 jones and gakpo in bad positions. you can see the guy who gets behind tsimikas. Hes stood infront of the gobshite right here. We find that macca is now right of centre. Not doing much. The man what was on macc's back most of the half is now free and endo hasn't a club, no interest in him. Theres a miassive gap between our letharci defence who are too deep and the supposed midfield area Now whats tsimikas doing? Hes left the man who was right infront of him and he;s ran at the guy who get the ball. hes not sutting a lane as hes zero awareness of the man he just ran past to get here. Jones is shrugged off and gakpo has'nt engaged so now gakpo can close the same man down, in other words where the **** are you headed for tsimikas! Tsimikas doesn't even ut out a ball down his line. the man just clips it. Endo has been watching the ball as well. Zero reading going on . this shows the full horror of what tsimikas has done. VVD has to leave his man i nthe middle. The goal scroer could have ben picked up by konate but he has to go central and deep to cover two. Gomez has to start reacting. Note macca in the centre hasn't even moved. the three on the left wng look like idiots. This is basic stuff. You've not only vacated your position chasing a man who had some cover but you ran past the ball receiver to do it.
Clearly it wasn't the right game to start Jones. Experience says that he usually needs a few games back from injury before he's anywhere near his best. Felt for Elliot because so many times he was free but on the few occasions that we even tried to find him we ballsed it up
yes I agree. Elliott was very "unlucky" that his team mates would not run and would not play him in as he made a few runs i saw the rare times we got to see thier half and they never looked for him. Jones yes he was rusty. Jota was really rusty. I felt tsimikas deserved putting in stocks never mind subbing and jones should have been apologised to for starting him. The scary thing is mr roberton did exactly the same stupid thing as tsimikas. 2nd goal Roberton has jumped out here. VVd has his man. the obvious wide player is there and we have literally just subbed diaz on. hes run off the man wide towards the cb trying to close down everyone. no cm is getting close to their 8. none. Macca is now LCM. nowhere near the reciever above. their 7 is free as a bird as szobo is wandering across. Robbo has already gmabled in his own head to run at the man wide. he seem soblivious to the man beside him deite the fact he was level with him and jump up to play him off. Robbo is now jumped at the guy and trying to close the passing lane so he has to know he's left his man. VVD has now left his man. not much reaction from endo at all. Macca 10 yards up has seen the man free and tried to move but the 6 doesnt! the man simply steps around robbo and plays in his mate. maac is close enough to get to there but endo is still asleep. VVD is now pulled out of middle. he is close enough to get there and smash that man out over the line but he won't engage. now vvd is bascially nowhere. he hasn't got close to try block really. Konate never once looked for the main danger man. Gomez trotted back the more i see joe gomez in these replays the more angry i am he stayed on as well. absolutely zero effort at times.
the most furstrating part about this game was you could tell this lot didn't have a very good keeper and a pretty average defence. Salah should be in the stocks alongside his mate tsimikas for going offside at 0-2 and turning an easy tap in and lifeline into a let off for them. Nunez got in and fluffed his lines a couple times. i didn't think that defensively they were very good. Its just we were so bloody slow and ponderous in movement and gave ourselves no chance to get aorund that press. remember 4 people who were walking could stiop us dead i ntheir tracks. not 6, not big risk. 4. thats not acceptable. it should have taken 10 mins max to readjust outselves, see the space behind thier CMs and push wide as full backs. Its astounding klopp wasn't up off his bench and adjusting that TBH. Pin our own full backs to the sidelines. Ge tour two cms to move wider and back and forth to open lanes for kelleher. Get jones to run into thos gaps. Get the fullbacks wide and give them options to pass up to from gakpo and elliott high and wide. my god it was pathetic to watch us flounder and walk about rather than even just move normally. They are shagged out and have just gone to the well too many times to keep going lately. I really think its fatigue and match fitness.
Bad day at the office against a team that play unique to anything come across in the prem. closest example of the man marking is united, and they’re **** at it as they all do their individual things. Knock it on the head and go again Sunday against Palace and put it right.
It is hard to blame any individual player as most of them were very poor. There was a degree of complacency which is unforgivable in a professional player. The total lack of shape and energy was also unexpected and disappointing. It was not just that we lost, that can happen even when you play well but the manner of the defeat. We did not just lose, we were demolished. Some say that we have not lost many games this season and should not moan at the occasional set back. But the problem is that we can see after last night’s shambles, there are some serious problems with the team and with the uncertainty of a new manager, who knows what we will be next season. This is not the end of season we wanted for Klopp, the players really need to have a good look in the mirror this morning after that nightmare they visited on us last night
