A deputy manager of a nursery is on trial for manslaughter by ill treatment, of a 9 month baby girl.
CCTV has shown that the baby was swaddled very tightly, placed face down on a beanbag and fastened into place by using a harness. The baby was also completely covered with a blanket, head to toe.
She was then not checked on for about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
CCTV showed what appears to be the baby struggling before she died from asphyxia and pathophysiological stress.
Comments picked up by the CCTV indicated that the accused didn’t have a good relationship with the baby (Genevieve) and her comments are said to “show hostility towards the baby”.
A senseless loss of life.
