Good Morning. It's Wednesday 10th April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Whites denied two stone wall pens in goalless draw Leeds moved back up to second place in the Championship, after being held to a 0-0 draw by Sunderland. On the whole, it was a much better performance from the men in White. Their movement off the ball was a lot better and their passing crisper. They had definitely re-found some (but not all) of the swagger that had deserted them since coming back from International Duty. Upfront was slightly different. They could still be playing now, and not have scored, yet, they had opportunities! The Whites were denied two stone wall penalties, and missed a hatful of half chances that would have found the back of the net just weeks ago. The visitors never really looked like scoring, Jack Clarke (the Crysensio Summerville of their team) was a constant handful though, but was kept in check by Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu. We must remember, Sunderland (up until last night) had only won once from their previous ten outings, losing seven and conceding sixteen times, yet Leeds only managed jut one shot on target all evening! There seemed to be a lack of urgency from the players, which had filtered through to the terraces. The normally rowdy Elland Road faithful (you know who you are) were unresponsive for much of the game. The nervous energy filling the stadium finally cleared with ten minutes on the clock, but the substitutions came far too late to make a difference. please log in to view this image Forward line needs addressing It was a brave decision for Daniel Farke to keep faith with the same starting XI that lost at Coventry, and it may yet pay dividends in the long run, as Leeds look to build on their performance, when they visit Ewood Park at the weekend. They must however improve drastically in-front of goal. It's easy to figure out why Summerville once again tried to go it alone last night, as Leeds frailties in the final third were lid bare, with all to see. Leeds, and Daniel Farke must take responsibility. That had the chance to strengthen their squad in January, but didn't. Instead, players like Keifer Moore have taken the Championship by storm. His 7.49 'Whoscored' average rating not only places him top of the pile for Ipswich, but he also makes the top three in the Championship! Bringing Messrs Piroe and Joseph on for the final eight minutes is a slap in the face to all Leeds fans. Bamford had one off shot target shot all night, and that is before addressing his shot to goal ratio. Expecting different results when doing the same things, may be an indication that Farke has run out of ideas; surely changes upfront must be made at Blackburn. please log in to view this image
Thought we were rubbish, deserved the penalties but did nothing for rest of game to deserve three points. Are we any better than Burnley or Sheffield united at foot of pl. Not sure. Looking increasingly promotion will have to be earned through a visit to Wemberlee. Piroe and Joseph must be crap if they can only force their way into final ten minutes of a team that contained Bamford. He wasn't the only useless passenger either
Morning all Leeds fans (and a special mention for the Wallies) We were never going to score were we? Thought Sunderland did a job on us (dirty ****ers) and thanks to some inept refereeing they got away with it. Two nailed on penalties not given, but that's championship football I suppose. Our only saving grace is that the other teams at the top are faltering too, we'll just have to pray that Ipswich can be equally awful tonight.
Morning all. I am really hoping the wheels havent fallen off, and we go and beat Blackburn on Saturday. We never even really looked like scoring. The match stats say it all really. Two definate penalities, but without VAR if the refs didnt see them, or bribed not to (2nd one, ref was in plain site) then they wont be given. Personally I still prefer playing in a league that doesnt have VAR though. Barndoor looked disinterested and couldnt score in a brothel. Farke looked to have run out of ideas as well. Overall, if we continue playing like this and Farke doesnt change his starting lineup, then the playoffs it is. We all know what happens there dont we? Leeds united never do anything easy. One day I hope we will. Its in Ipswitch and Leicesters hands now. Signed, a really pissed off Leeds fan who has watched ****e for a last few games. I dont know how they have 'lost confidence', but that could be translated into lost their bottle as well.. I would think that the latter is the most likely though ffs..
What’s wrong with playoffs and a Wembley trip. If we’re as good as one would have you believer we’ll win them and put another Wembley win into our history
We don't win play-offs. Three play off finals and three defeats (not even going to mention the SF defeats). It's all about form going into them, forget the record winning streak in 2024 that means nothing. You're a Leeds fan of a certain age, so I'm sure we don't need Aski to give us the stats on Wembley wins v losses. Sorry, glass half empty today
You could have put your house on that we wouldn't take advantage of the gifts offered by Ipswich/lesta if we had we would be planning our return to the top table..... we've hit the brick wall at the wrong time, but did anyone expect it to be any different seriously ....the only consolation is if its the play offs we surely deserve a change of luck? Don't we
I guess it was inevitable but Dallas has announced his retirement from football. All the best Stu lad and thank you for the memories
I was happy to get Farke and he's done an excellent job on the main. After a near full season of wat hing us under him , the pros still outway the cons for me. Was saying to my mate in the pub last night, after years of watching Bamford you can just tell by his body language what kind of form he's in, atm it's shoulders down and ambling around the pitch, missing those couple of good chances will weigh on his mind, he's that kind of personality and it won't improve until he puts a chance away, which doesn't look likely and we're running out of games to persevere, he really needs to be on the bench and get the kick up the arse he often needs. One of the 2 things that do irk me with DF is his insistence of playing out of form players. The other is, we've been found out tactically and he hasn't the ability to counter it.
Afternoon all Leicester lost, the pressure is getting to everyone, we have to hope we’ve had our blip, back to back wins are what’s required now. I don’t want to rely on the play offs with WBA and Southampton, equally they won’t want us in it either
Very sad news about Dallas. Whatever shortcomings he might have had technically, he always gave his all for the team. Total commitment. Even when things were going badly his head never dropped. I wish him well for whatever he goes on to do in life and I hope that he's given a chance to say a proper farewell to the Elland Road crowd. The ref in last night's game was outrageous. Those dirty bastards got away with a ridiculous amount of fouls and should never have ended the game with eleven players still on the pitch. At times it was like a ****ing wrestling match. As for the two penalties, they should have been abundantly clear even to a blind man on a galloping horse. His decisions were inexplicable, as was his allocation of 3 minutes of added time in a game that had seen continual time-wasting by Sunderland as well as 7 substitutions. Lesta, of course, were given 8 minutes to try and avoid defeat against the plucky Wallies.
Will they want Leicester in the playoffs? Albion and Saints both to go to Leicester in back to back homes for the foxes.
I felt Farke was an underwhelming appointment and then we were linked with some awful coaches and Farke looked the best option. He’s done well, but I’ve said a dozen times, how can you not win matches with the quality we have. I’ve got the same concerns as you, everyone is now playing the same against us and causing us problems and Farke hasn’t got an answer. There were questions at the start about Piroe and Rutter needing to swap positions, now Bamford is in the squad and Rutter is suddenly fine playing deeper. Farke has also got lucky with a few changes that were forced on him rather than a magic wand wave. Struijk getting injured meant Ampadu dropping to CB and Gruev getting game time. We sold our RBs and were forced to convert Gray giving Kamara a start. Yesterday the subs were introduced far too late, if we get promotion forget the question marks over which players are good enough for the PL, we have to wonder if the coach is.
