****ing sick of Mara. Lazy prick. I don’t want to see him in a saints shirt again personally. Hate him. Just jogs about thinking he’s billy big bollocks. Would rather play anyone else, even youth
That's very unfair. He always tries, I haven't seen a lack of effort from him at all. The problem is Martin is not playing to his strengths and he's bringing him on in situations not suited to him. When he's come on with us needing a goal, playing centrally with a strike partner, he has delivered.
Will have to agree to disagree on this one. I think he’s a joke. Last night he was literally walking about leaving Bree on his own. Someone said he’s really good at finishing in training, but it doesn’t make up for a lack of application. He’s another Lemina that has some talent but will never do anything with it because of his attitude
H How on earth it is possible to hate a member of a football team is beyond me. Another example of the misuse of social media - shows no class whatsoever.
I don't contest your view, but I guess if he was ever able to read your posts and was able to reply he would probably be uncomplimentary about you, that of course can never happen.
My view on Mara and Edozie is still the same, 10 minute cameos can never prepare them for 90 minute slogs.
That is absolutely not true. He was playing most of the time in front of us and he was tracking back and putting in some hard tackles. I think he is a bit of a poseur but he is a good footballer.
I was about to post similar, he could well go from zero (in some people's estimation) to hero as super Joe Aribo has.
It gets ignored because it’s the same in virtually every game. Good for 70 mins and then, as you say, when the other team come at us more we seem to not know how to deal with it. Hopefully Martin has learnt that bringing on Charles in these scenarios makes us more solid than bringing on *insert like for like attacking player*. Shame it is probably too late in the season now to get the autos but should help for the playoffs.
That's a fair point. I would have been happy for Aribo to leave on a free in the summer. He's been utterly class and I was totally wrong. Maybe if he had a decent run, or was played in a 2 things would be different
Just shows the levels between the PL and the Championship. When people (probably you and Os) were saying stuff last season about this team getting battered in the Champ a few people (mostly me as I’m regularly right) pointed out the huge gulf in ability. I’d bet that Aribo and Armstrong will still be utterly useless in the PL if we were to go up but are top end Champ players
Worst case scenario - Coventry AND Preston could draw level with us on points, and Hull could get one more point than us. Unlikely I know, but I've just seen an entire squadron of flying pigs, and I support Saints...
Wash your mouth out Sir! King Joe is the world's best midfielder. I won't hear a word against the Nigerian Zidane
As I am keen to continue riding the wave of success brought about by @Le Tissier's Laces threads, and to bask in reflected glory, my thoughts have turned to Saturday's game. As I don't want to reach Russ levels of tinkering with the proper order of things, I will not attempt to create a Saints v Watford Match thread. However, I have done exhaustive research, via Wikipedia, and apparently Watford (in Hertfordshire, the home of Watford FC) is not the same Watford as Watford Gap, which is close to a different Watford, in Northamptonshire. Watford Gap is some 60 miles from Watford, via the M1, and therefore several days' journeying. Still, not wanting to let the facts get in the way of an obvious attempt at humour, let's hope that Watford's team on Saturday have lots of Gaps. I predicted a 3-0 win for Saints v Coventry. I got the number of goals correct, but not the team involved with every goal. Consequently, I am confidently predicting another 3-0 win for Saints, which will probably result in a 2-1 victory for us.
Important point for me here is that we were convincing against a potential playoff rival. Every time we beat these guys in the league the odds of us beating them in the playoffs tip in our favour.
I, being a bit keen on geography and cartology, was aware of the Watford and Watford gap locations. Which is where the north begins allegedly. I'll give my meaningful insights on the upcoming game when the match thread is up. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/oct/16/uk-north-south-divide-vikings-watford-gap please log in to view this image
