It’s pointless looking at the loss without player sales isn’t it? Player sales are our best way of making money.
Yeah I think Maguire likes using that bigger figure because the headline looks much crazier if he can say 'This club is losing 400k a week!!!' when that's not the reality. I find it a bit strange that player purchases (via amortisation i.e. the amount we've paid for a player spread out over their contract) is included in our operating loss (which contributed to that 400k) but not player sales (which brings it down to 100k).
Kieran Maguire also stated our losses after sales are still well below the championship average to June this year. We lost something like 13m in the last 2 years of a reporting period which allows us to lose 39m over 3. Burnsy is talking about operational losses. He doesn't seem to realise that's the modern day norm for ambitious clubs without parachute players. Crazy, yes but we're far from alone.
It does not end well in the long term. My last job was for a club where the owner was £22m in. Regardless of long he will do it, at some point someone will need to either buy it or rescue it.
Absolutely not. If Acun is putting anywhere north of 200k a week in then someone at the EFL should be asking questions. It wont end well. And that applies to all clubs who are in similar situations.
Mcvities man will hopefully get more involved. I heard (at the snooker club) the sponsorship was going to ramp up over the coming years.
It's not just Acun. The likes of Preston and all the clubs around us invest the max allowed also. We're just catching up to what other clubs have been doing for years.it's just novel to us after many years of Ehab.
If we're running a 20.5m operating deficit like last year, then without player sales he'll have to put it in this year. And that'll max out the ffp headroom for the rolling 3 years, if the last sets of accounts are anything to go by.
Yeah, but doesn't it have to be before July to count for this year's ffp or something? If so he could well be having to put in close to the max permissible for the current reporting period to June this year. There's ifs and buts, but i wouldn't confidently rule out that potential scenario.
The most pertinent comment ..... That loss also isn't a cash loss. It's not Acun writing a cheque each week for 100k.
Yeah, I reckon we will hopefully sell Allsop and Ingram. I think we will also sell Doc and possibly Longman and some of the other players out on loan.
