Every cycle lane in London has gaps in the bollards to allow cars to move out of the way for emergency vehicles.

If I wanted a new sofa, I wouldn't be anywhere near IKEA.

You can move into the bus lane if an emergency vehicle is on call with blue lights flashing, as I posted above. But if you just do so to let one pass with no lights on you are liable to a fine as has happened to a lot of people.

The gaps arent wide enough between Colliers Wood and Tooting.

"Last Friday we drove down Tooting/Colliers Wood High Street to the Savacentre. It was absolutely choc a bloc with cars, buses etc travelling at a snail's pace as the cycle lanes had restricted the width of the road. What particularly concerned me was that the cycle lanes had been marked off with metal poles. This,of course,is the main road to and from St. George's and is an important route for ambulances travelling to and from the Hospital. There is no way an ambulance could have got through in an emergency as there was nowhere for the cars/buses etc to pull in to let the ambulance pass. This is very worrying as any ambulance would be stuck in the traffic possibly costing a seriously ill person their life. This scenario does not appear to have occurred to the planners.

    Helen

The whole area is a nightmare! Balham high road, Tooting Bec to Tooting broadway, Tooting Broadway to Colliers Wood all have metal posts dotted along the road in various parts. Many side road now blocked off so all car, lorries, buses, taxis, bikes etc can only go on the main road! As you say, no car driver can pull over to allow an ambulance through. I very much doubt anyone involved in the implementation of this scheme lives locally & has to endure the chaos on a daily basis. Probably have the luxury of working from home too. What is going to happen when schools are back in less than 2 weeks?
Just copied this from Gov website....
While it is strongly advised that parents, staff, and pupils walk and cycle as an alternative to public transport, to further reduce the demand on public transport and the need for additional capacity, local authorities should accept that those who can drive to school may do so
Also, as many bus lanes have now been swallowed up as bike lanes, anyone who does attempt to travel by bus to school/work faces a much longer journey. As if lives are not difficult enough for so many people now, this scheme is just adding to the problem.

The cycle lane changes which have affected the bus stops are terrible for anyone with a disability.

I think the point being made is that several bus stops have been closed due to the implementation of these extended kerbs which means a longer walk to a bus stop for some, causing great inconvenience to those affected and in particular for those with disabilities.

Also - yes - these cycle lanes have been in place for some time but the extended kerbs are new. There is now nowhere for cars to pull in should emergency service vehicles need to pass.

This whole LTN thing has been appallingly planned with little or no warning and caused huge disruption and distress to many, not to mention the adverse affect on the environment because of increased emissions. "

The area I am talking about doesnt have bus lanes. There is just room for one line of vehicles each way. Buses stop at islands near the middle of the road.

you just need to know what you should look for.

"That being said, another reason for IKEA's low prices is the quality of its materials. Now, that doesn't mean all furniture and décor is poorly made. In fact, there are plenty of durable, quality items available, if you know what to look for and what to avoid.

https://www.housedigest.com/1098381...said, another reason, and décor is poorly made.

I'm sure there are places that you can get better quality furniture but you wont get so many options. This is why I recommend you actually visit the store and see the products for yourself. I mainly go for the meatballs anyway.

I was about to post the same thing. You may well have grounds for appeal, but you are quite likely to get a fixed penalty if you go in a bus or mandatory cycle lane during the period of operation, even to move for an ambulance as you will have broken the law.

How do you rate them compared to Mr Brain’s pork ***gots?

    Asking for a friend….

Those quotes were from three different people. Only Helen gave her name in the text. Nobody tried to claim that the bollards were wide enough apart for cars to get out of the way of ambulances.

I dont bother. I try them and if I like them that's good enough for me. I'm not on a quest for the perfect meatball.
