Going to be missing this one because my old man has been wiped out by the flu. Might have done me a favour though, not sure I can justify the travel costs (+ overnight stay) for a solo trip when our season is dead in the water - until the playoffs! Hoping to get down for Watford and Preston all being well. I actually think we might come back to life in this game... (jinxed it)
I’ll just make a note of that, the bit about coming back to life? Seriously, they need to otherwise there’s going to be a stadium of very unhappy supporters!
Oh god, I hope you're right, after all the joy & entertainment of the middle of this season, I'm getting flashbacks to previous seasons now We do struggle with 'OK', either one or the other for us, very Saintsy
Matchday! Yes, I am up at 4:45, in order to get my grumpiness in early. I'll be fine by 7:45 this evening (if the traffic is OK). I may even be fine by 9:45, at the end of our resounding triumph, as even Saints couldn't get this wrong. Could they? I'm still predicting 3-0 to Saints. Edozie hat-trick
I'm going, so I care in so much that it would be a far more enjoyable experience if we play well and win. That said, I'm not holding my breath.
My post was a bit tongue in cheek. I just can't get properly excited or nervous for a match until the play offs now.
The last time I was at Saints v Coventry, I ended up on the pitch with AberdeenSaint Jnr. Maybe we`ll be on the pitch again, employed as inverted fullbacks this time.
I know what you mean. Letting go of autos has been hard. The last few games will be training for playoffs, I just want us to tighten up at the back. Controversial but I’d like to see Downes and Charles play a bit together, maybe 2 DM’s will make us a bit more solid.
I think the only person that's controversial with is Russell Martin Definitely the type of thing we should be trying in these games, and given Coventry are a decent side in excellent form, this does seem like a good game to try it.
I know. I pine for the days of Wanyama-Schneiderlin or schneiderlin-cork. I’m probably missing something but I felt it allowed our fullbacks to push on. In those days the fullbacks and wingers had great chemistry together and we were a threat going forward
Agree. One of the biggest criticisms I have of Martin is his inability to set up a midfield. Who honestly thought a midfield 3 of smallbone, rothwell, stu was strong enough to win a championship game apart from Martin?
Did you know Saints vs Coventry City broke three records three home games in a row? 1982 - 5-5 highest scoring draw 1983 - 1-1 quickest goal (at the time) - Mark Hately Coventry 14 seconds 1984 - 8-2 biggest top-flight home win (at the time)
