Seems like a pretty clear indication that the current set up isn't fit for purpose. The principle is right but the way they've implemented it is a joke. 10 points reduced to 6 on appeal for Everton 4 points for Forest 2 points for a second infringement for Everton Both will appeal and probably get further reductions. Where is the dissuasion to clubs to not do it. You can overspend for years and end up with 4 points taken off? That's one win and a draw. Most players probably contribute that a season, one good save/block to preserve a win and a goal to snatch a draw and you've got your moneys worth effectively... How many points have Isak, Gordon or Bruno been worth to us this year? Scrap the current setup and make it the luxury tax system - the more you spend over your threshold, the more tax you pay, that money can then be filtered down through the EFL clubs as well so two birds one stone.
It seems like the fairest option. Or scrap FFP altogether. For every 100m you spend 10m goes in a pot that gets distributed to the Championship, league one and two. So on and so forth. This effectively safeguards the league structure.
I'd love them to scrap it but because of some cretins it's probably needed in fairness - look at the Reading owner currently - bought his play toy, got disinterested when it didn't work out and now they are ****ed as he's just not bothered anymore. Could be disastrous if it happen to us (City and Chelsea also) in the longer run with our owners but at least we'd have saleable assets in terms of players etc. to try and balance the books quickly. It really shouldn't be difficult and the current rules - if a little more specific - would have worked but the PL are a ****ing travesty of an organization, with little to no idea of what they are doing and how to do what they don't know they are doing. The current rules are fine but it should have been something along the lines of: If you over spend by x (say 0-20m) it's "this" punishment (2 points) If you overspend by y (20.01-50m) its "this" punishment (5 points) If you over spend by z (50.01m) it is "this" punishment (10 points) and for every 20m over this threshold and additional 2 points
It's not about protecting clubs it's about cementing the order of football. It's doing exactly what it was introduced for.
Sounds like the Premier league has released a last ditch attempt to scare off an independent regulator.... referring to unintended consequences! Thanks Richard , but we'll take our chances.
Unfortunately the chances of European football are down to what's available this right now. The amount of times we've had people looking at the fixture list and saying we'll be flying once we get x y and z back this season had become irritating. They're not coming back soon enough , others get injuries and they take 4 or 5 games to get upto speed anyway. The current side is what we're relying on.
And the fact that getting European football next season is entirely in our hands despite this being such an horrendous season.
It's always in a side hands. Let's rewind a few months when you were convinced we'd still finish top 4.....my advice would be to watch the sides play rather than use emotions.... we're just not that good mate.
Top 4 ?? I haven’t given up on winning the PL yet. Plus, I don’t think getting into Europe is in Sheff Utds hands.
