Absolute bollocks that mind. There was a protest before he was announced and the protest boys want another protest
Ah, right. Of course. My apologies. I don't particularly like Speakman. I think he's done a good job overall though and, although things haven't gone well this season, in order to judge him, you have to consider information that we're not privy to- as I said about the reasons behind why we haven't signed a striker. Which boils down to the same thing about judging performance on what we know, rather than rumours and inferences.
Speakman will stay in my opinion, mistakes have been made, mostly sacking Mowbray and I think they have been a little heavy on allowing too much experience to leave, but that can be easily rectified in the summer and it doesn’t need a major change in direction. We are heading in the right direction and I suspect the remit will remain the same for next season, a top-6 spot.
Speakman staying or going probably depends on what he’s offered and how we handle the errors of the season. The ideal world for me would be to add more room team savviness to the strategy and decision making either through giving the manager/hc a bit more say or adding someone a bit more experienced at this level. If we do that and he has an offer he may take it and do one but I don’t think we can do nothing at board level after this current mess.
Don't think anyone on here as a over inflated like for Speakman, people just stating facts that in 3 seasons we have improved massively as a club from what we were, this season has been a bit disappointing but get get the next head coach correct and the is a decent squad there to work with, obviously with a few more additions.
Does any of that apply to you ... ... you seem unwilling to appreciate other opinions and always want to set people against each other. This isn't the first time you've had a pop at the board and how it runs. Why not just stick to the football, although you could only manage two snide little comments on the match thread tbf.
What's he said ? He can bring an assistant ? My point is , what happens if they want to bring a small team or another person? We say no because Dodds and Proctor have to be on the front bench ? They shouldn't even come into it.
Speakman strikes me as the kind of bloke who would get on my tits. As did Neil when he got us promoted, not sure I’d be a fan of Pep. I’d almost like to not like him for his spin talk but has done a lot of good things while here. There a few things for me. He’s revived our academy and if it keeps developing only good will come from it. He’s also recruited a number of players with a massive upside. They won’t stay forever but it will grow our turnover which means we can increase our spend within the rules. He’s developed a strategy. I’ve never seen the like before and the club has needed it as long as I’ve supported them. Probably replaceable but if we can keep the good bits we should. I think there are a couple of significant weaknesses. Not covering injuries/depth across the positions seem to leave gaps, it’s not as thorough as they make out, plus number 9 strikers throughout the ages seem lacking within the club, pace power goals , that would indicate a scouting issue to me like, unless there’s some weird philosophy. This year - a lack of readiness, almost Britishness in the signings.
The alternative though is that we lose the game great from academy to first team. It’s a balance we need to get right but there are coaches seeing our young players through the journey and if we let them deselect our team it harms our processes which I think sound sensible. Of course we have to win first team matches more often so the journey of young players can’t be the only focus.
Anybody think they will go for Frank lampard? Certainly wouldnt be my first choice but was he not forced to use youth at Chelsea when the monies ran out or they had an embargo on transfers.
