There’s an assumption that if we’re not promoted then we lose the big players and we’ll be suddenly struggling in lower end of championship. That’s nonsense Of course players will go but a top coach like we have will replace them and we’ll remain competitive next season. Even without ffp we have biggest crowds and most merch sales etc to ensure we’ll be still competitive

Fair enough, didn't notice that. Suppose it's same for all teams involved, only Leicester are travelling.

    Getting interesting at the bottom
    Plymouth v QPR Tues

Still won't be an easy game, but was hoping QPR would be safe by the time we play them. Yesterday didn't help

3 years after relegation from the PL in the early 2000's our average attendance dropped to below 22k a game.

    League 1 hovered around 24k.

Once back in the Championship and finishing bottom half every year then it dropped back to sub 22k for a season.

It's not like we dominate the division regarding crowd size when we aren't fighting for promotion. Leeds fans are as fickle as any others.

If our average crowd drops to 23k or 24k like it has done historically then we will won't be the biggest club in this division. We will be a club with 'huge potential' again.

Just for the record, clubs that have had higher average attendances over a Championship season than Leeds in the last 20 years are:-

    Norwich
    Sheff Wed
    Sheff Utd
    Ipswich
    Sunderland
    Derby
    Wolves
    Southampton
    Birmingham
    Leicester
    West Ham
    Brighton
    Cardiff
    Nottingham Forest
    Middlesborough
    Newcastle
    Aston Villa

12 of the list above could be operating at our level next season. Sunderland averaging over 41k a game this season btw.

It's by no way a given that we are THE biggest club if we remain in the Championship.

Next season we will earn less than Sheff Utd, Burnley AND Luton before we even start with anyone else.

Millions of football fans thoroughly enjoy clubs, most of them will never see their club anywhere near the pl. they still get the same buzz from a win as scum or Liverpool fans will today. Fine to aspire to be in bottom half of pl but there’s more to football thankfully

They’ll also never see quality football unless they watch another team on Sky. It’s fine if you want to see us playing Millwall, QPR, Coventry, Ipswich, Swansea and the likes every week, you’re obviously happy with that.

I want to see us compete in the PL, I just don’t get the “being happy with just watching a game of football”, for me, there has to be an end product and that’s finishing top or winning a cup.

Not knocking you, we’re all different

100% agree with you. Just pointing out that in a couple of seasons time, if we remain in the Championship, that mid table might be about our level and we won't be winning half as many games.

If we go up and get it right then we might win as many games as we will in the Championship but at a higher level and with a real possibility of upgrading the stadium and improving the fan experience on matchdays.

For me, it's about securing the clubs future for the next generation of fans to enjoy days out at the football. The best way to do that is getting up, collecting money and reinvestment in the club.

No we won't. We'll lose every player worth their salt for a fee far far far far less than market value (as is the Leeds Utd way).

Every player we have on loan, will continual their loan (not that we're even getting a loan fee for most of them (as is the Leeds Utd way)....

Depends on what your idea is of competing though. Personally being destroyed by the top six or seven is not competing. For others they seemed quite satisfied to concede 70 plus goals once it was in pl.
great if we can do it right next time around but odds are very much against that

Odds were against us beating Man City at City under Bielsa, Liverpool at Anfield under Marsch or in the FA Cup vs scum under Grayson. Maybe we should have just not bothered turning up or trying?

Personally I'd rather have a go at making some memories.

Perfect result with scum and the bin tippers. Both their seasons messed up with a draw. Glad some result went right this weekend
