That is one way of upsetting them. They are in South Yorkshire and object to being bracketed with Wessies. As do the Blunts and the Fowls.
I know. Used to say to a Wednesday fan at work years ago who used to bristle when we called him a Wessie that Riding means a third. We were in the East Riding, go up the coast and you arrive in the North Riding. That leaves one and as South Riding only existed in a Winifred Holtby novel you must be a Wessie. Technically now they aren’t since they are now in South Yorkshire, like we were in Humberside for administrative purposes. Would still call him a Wessie if I saw him because to him that was bracketing him with Leeds.
