If we play Leicester in the final, and get beaten, and then they get done for financial tomfoolery, surely we will be able to sue the Premier League and/or Leicester, for hundreds of millions. Think that would be more exciting than actually getting promoted.
Im actually up for that. Stay in eve champ without financially crippling ourselves. The dream scenario
Has any club actually managed to sue the PL/FL? I'd imagine it's the sort of thing which would be dragged out for years
I saw this earlier. Granted, it was prior to the Easter Monday games but it showed that we were averaging exactly 2 points per game in 2024 leading into the Ipswich result. Kudus to Leeds and Ipswich because their points hauls in that period are crazy. After the Easter Monday results it stands like this (from New Year to now): Leicester = 1.54 ppg Saints = 1.83 ppg Ipswich = 2.29 ppg Leeds = 2.71 ppg
I agree but I think RM has disappointed me most in his lack of trust in our young players. I just don’t see that changing next year.
I think it’s fair enough we haven’t played the youngsters much this year tbh. We have been trying to keep up with historically incredible sides points wise so there hasn’t been many games where we could throw them in. I’m sure there were some opportunities when we were winning pretty comfortably where we could’ve given them 20 mins or something, but we also have a pretty deep squad of high level Champ players we also want to keep happy. Can’t really blame Martin for not giving minutes to them in my view.
Also, they're young youngsters. Dibling, Amo and Meghoma all just 17. If they were 19 then yeah, chuck them in. But it's probably doing them just as good playing full games in a settled u21 side, than 10 mins here and there with the seniors.
Be interesting to see if any of them follow Doyle’s example in the summer. Meghoma and SAA both came from Spurs presumably for a quicker route to the first team, see what their patience is like
Difference is they've all signed longer term contracts, whereas Doyle rejected his offer (ironically cos he wasn't getting enough first team opportunities despite being injured), so you'd hope they'd all stick around longer.
At the end of the day they're all knocking on the door, and have each played 3 or 4 games for the seniors. I don't think Doyle will be getting into the Brighton first team any time soon. Realistically they all have a better chance of getting games at Saints than elsewhere, unless they sign for another Championship side.
Roll your eyes but Barcelona can do it. Yamine Lamal is 16, Gavi is 19, Vitor Roque 19, Cubarsi 17, Guiu 18, Fort 19, Faye 19, Kochen 19, Prim 18, Galliot 19, Hernandez 19, Lopez & Balde 20. Where there is a will... we don't have that depth of talent but they're in the squad and I feel that if you don't play them they will never become great. Now is probably a good time to be giving them minutes.
We haven’t played the youngsters because we fail to see any game out. I can’t remember the last time we were 2+ goals up with 25 minutes to play. The normal scenario is being 1-0 up as we start playing badly at 60 minutes, which is no place for a young player. Im sure if we killed a game off we would see dibling or SAA
Well, that's one team we now cannot play next season, whatever happens on the pitch between now and the end of May.
Must be one of the worst championship sides ever. Without Johansson, they probably would be the worst.
Or we could try out that other goalie of ours, Mateusz Lis. He's kept 17 clean sheets in 27 games playing for our Turkish cousins, Goztepe. The best in the whole division.
