I agree ....but wasn't that literally the aim for this season? (not sure why I'm posing it as a question when it was!)

The system is fine when played properly l. The way LR has implemented this system with us is the problem

Can we have a third option..... Systems fine, it's the way LR implements it that needs to change

This for me. Rosie seems to spend half the game screaming at the players to get forwards.

If I think about the Southampton game we looked world beaters so for me the squad was good enough to go up.

Too often though many of them looked hesitant and cautious in too many games. IMHO the coaching staff are not telling them to play like that.

I know it’s a results driven business but I like to feel it’s entertaining as well. It’s the “ in “ process but it’s hard to watch.

I think we dont take enough risks in possession
Seems rare we make a pass into space instead we opt to pass into feet more

And we need to be able to up the intensity at will more often

I enjoy possession football but Rosenior’s version of it means that we retain possession mostly in our own third. Think we rank highest in the Championship for touches in our own third but only 12th for the opponent’s third. If we just moved the ball from defence to midfield and then to our forward line a bit quicker, whilst still playing intricate possession-based football, it would be a lot more enjoyable to watch.

And like Brady said, we make a lot of passes to feet instead of into space. In the opponent’s third, we just need to be braver in making those passes to the forwards, even if they intercept it.

Hopefully and im sure it is just inexperience and
Learning to mould and find the balance
    Which is tough to do
2 years as a manager is such a short amount of time

Nothing wrong with possession based football. Many managers utilize it well and believe it or not, its possible to keep possession whilst being creative and attacking.

My issue is specifically with Rosenior's style of possession based football. Its slow, boring, overly cautious and predictable. It's like playing with the handbrake on.

If he's willing to admit its not working, change it, allow us to move the ball around quicker and with intent, im all for him staying. Unfortunately all ive heard him say since day 1 is he wont change the way we play. There's not much room for improvement if thats his mentality.

Look guys you’ve not paid attention . Yesterday I listed the footballing style options and got very few replies. This ‘style’ was included . Maybe I should have set it as a poll and instead of debating it just voted , because there’s only so many ways that opinions can be given on it.
To be honest you lot have found around 280 ways of saying the same thing LOL Although I think there are possibly 3 willing ones and 1 forced into it - you know who you are LOL

please don’t take offence it’s all good fun! It’s all very readable .

Step son says he is happy to watch city play any system so long as its's effective and entertaining to a degree.

I voted yes as the answer to the poll question is pretty obvious

It’s been a problem all season. Maybe just maybe they should work on it in training because it’s not happening for no reason and him acting the way he does on match day clearly doesn’t reflect what they work on in training as they’re have shown no signs of improvement over the season.

As it is right now my answer would be 'no', unless we start using the possession to create goal scoring chances.

Or my answer would be 'formaggi'... I'm not sure what's going on anymore.

I don’t think anyone has any issues with the way we play between the boxes really. We do play slow but we often still get to their final third despite this. However, we clearly aren’t coached very well in the final third given we still cannot consistently break down defences and create high quality chances. I feel too much responsibility is given to the players to make this happen especially considering how much harder we make it for our forwards because of the pace we play forward.

I am happy with any system we win with. Being entertaining is a bonus but not essential.

I think I’ll leave this next poll until the end of the season but I perhaps should have done:

Based on the quality of the playing squad, have we:

    Overachieved
    Underperformed
    Finished as you’d have expected

This perhaps doesn’t have as many variables! :1980_boogie_down:
