this should bring a bumper gate to the greenhous meadow next saturday. the morecambe shrimps visit the shrews a week today.

    results

    the shrimps lost 1-2 at home to crewe today and results before are d a argyle 1-1,w h gills 2-1, d h millers 3-3, w a vale 4-0, d a southend 0-0, L h afc wombles. 1-2

not many clubs can take a point at southend let alone win 4-0 at vale. this has to be balanced with the last 2 results and the gas winning at morecambe, come to that was that the time gas won. i believe part of the shrimps gd is down to an early season win

    league

    p18 w8 d6 L4 f35 a19 gd16 p30 pos 6

shrews fresh from their 7-2 win at the cobblers and increased gd of 11 will need to protect their gd. in view of the shrimps recent form i predict another shrews mini goal fest 3-1, gornell collins and wright. att 5887. floreat salopia.

who is that old boy subsiding at the bar with that decanter? rowland!

Great result for you today against a managerless Northampton side. I would expect Jim to have said his piece in the dressing room after todays game & move on to the next game. We are unbeaten away from home & I would expect that our players will be back to business with double training sessions and put in a better performance on the pitch next week to protect our unbeaten record.

And hopefully our boys will come back down to earth after our fabulous win at Northampton and give you a good game, to protect our unbeaten home record. Looking forward to it, we don't seem to do too well against Morecambe but we have improved on our bogey teams this season so i'm going for a 3-2 win with Gornell, Wright & Collins to score. Looking forward to seeing Jim Bentley again ,as he always enjoys the stick we give him, even though I don't think he actually ate the pie one of our fans gave him last season when he was warming up! :emoticon-0165-muscl

I am sure Jim is big enough to take the stick. I am sure though our fans will give as good as it gets when we come to the Meadow.;) After Sat Jim & Ken will make sure that the defence does not make the same errors as they did against Crewe. This is a hard game but so was Port Vale, Cheltenham etc away from home. As this division shows anybody can beat anybody in this league on the day like we have proved a few weeks back at Port Vale after their 3-0 hammering of Northampton.

i wonder how many of our 4 internationals will be playing, 2 u21 england, 1 eire u21 and 1 wales u21. any of these could make a sizeable dent in the shrimps gd. jamie collins scored 3 in 7 minutes for eire the other day. another hat trick on saturday could be useful. floreat salopia!

Thought Lewis Neal had returned on loan for a moment there. The paper still prints Chris Neal's name in full, as though we had two Neals. Probably do the same with Jon Taylor next time he plays. They'll catch up eventually.

let us hope the shrews pull off a great win today. this is probably towns most awkward game before the end of the year and the other games may take care of themselves. we need a win. vale and torquay fought a goalless draw last night. coys, bots, fs

todays other games affecting the shrews are brewers v wombles home win, gills v bantams home win, oxon v chelt draw, millers v crawley draw, southend v gas home win*, swindon v shots home win, the predictions are mine, but gas may take a point at southend and millers v crawley result is of interest re our fa cup tie next week. whatever the results town need to win today

After last weeks display I think Jim will have them fired up for this one & not concede the way we did last week. Considering we have not lost away I don't think our defence is that bad to concede three but I may be wrong. I think you may be surprised that we are a better team than last season when we beat you on your patch. I would expect a good performance before we have a 2 week break from the cup.

    Shrewsbury 1-2 Morecambe. Ellison, Carlton

Don't worry the Shrews can look like they don't know how to play football sometimes, so it should be a great game for one set if fans!

Still early days yet I am not that bothered considering by many we was relegation candidates at the start of the season. We have a difficult month of games coming up but am sure Jim will get the team back to winning ways. From todays match don't think we played poor but don't also think we played well to take the game to Shrewsbury. Still along way to go in the season & still plenty of games to get back on track.

Morecombe did a good job of containing a lot of towns play. The new loan players on the right wing played well together and created a range of good chances that unfortunately didn't reach our forwards. The penalty, possibly a bit harsh but by the rules an arm deflected the path of the ball, was caused by a cross from the right. Wroe calmly slotted it away. Richards gets an honorary MOTM purely for clearing a goal with his head. Wright who was having an unspectacular game got a second late on.

Unfortunately Bristol and Oxford didn't show enough mettle today and let their opposition draw of beat them.
