Are we charging them more because they're a Premier League side? :bandit:

I'm looking for a new challenge at the moment and I've got a lot going for me. I'll be affordable in the Championship, I won't be leaving in the first 6 weeks like the last 2, I have connections to the academy at my current club Cashmere Technical so can probably bring in some youth that wont be good enough for the first team. The biggie would be that I could probably get the 5th highest scoring striker in the world through the door as well. <laugh>

I am so good at this negotiating stuff. The brother might be a problem. No, no, it’ll be fine. Both of em. Or just Garbh. I’m in!

Repeat post as this is probably the more appropriate thread for it. Not new News just a different slant on what was published in March.

    Southampton Finances 2022/23
Southampton’s pre-tax loss shot up from £15m to £87m, as revenue fell £5m (3%) from £151m to £146m and profit from player sales dropped £24m from £31m to £7m. Operating expenses rose £36m (19%) to £224m, while net interest payable was up 76% from £9m to £17m.

The loss after tax was even higher at £94m, due to a £7m tax charge.

It’s a wonderful achievement for Kayla, and a sign that the Women’s team are doing well. I guess she will be behind Mary Earps for a good few years yet though.

So with the creeping feeling that we may be in the Championship for a second season, i'm now thinking what a second season squad might look like.

It actually could make for an ok team still, but it features a lot of the deadweight from our PL relegation who are probably on wages too high for where we are and for that reason I still think it will be very different at the end. I have probably unintentionally missed some players off as well.

End of loan / End of contract

Ryan Fraser, Joe Rothwell, David Brooks, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Flynn Downes, Alex McCarthy, Stuart Armstrong, Che Adams.

Last year of contract (expecting all of these to leave)

Kyle Walker-Peters (very likely to leave), Romain Perraud, Lyanco.

Returning from loan with more than a year left (questionable but for now counting them in)

Carlos Alcaraz, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Duje Caleta-Car, Paul Onuachu, Mateusz Lis.

    Provisional Championship Squad for 24/25

    Goalkeepers
    Gavin Bazunu
    Joe Lumley
    Mateusz Lis

    Right Back
    James Bree

    Left Backs
    Ryan Manning
    Juan Larios

    Centre Backs
    Jack Stephens
Jan Bednarek (last year of contract, but still an active part of things)
    Duje Caleta-Car
    Armel Bella-Kotchap

    Midfielders
    Shea Charles
    Joe Aribo
    Will Smallbone
    Carlos Alcaraz

    Wingers
    Kamaldeen Sulemana
    Sam Edozie
    Sam Amo-Ameyaw
Adam Armstrong (lets be honest hes best here).

    Forwards
    Ross Stewart
    Sekou Mara
    Paul Onuachu

    Possible Breakthrough Players

    Jayden Meghoma
    Lewis Payne
    Tyler Dibling
    Diamond Edwards
    Dom Ballard

Was it ever confirmed if DCC's loan deal includes an option to buy or an obligation to buy? Some media outlets said obligation, others said option.

On the Jack Stephens topic, with him playing the left back/hybrid role, we are now playing how we did at the start of the season when Manning was playing that exact same role. Inverted fullback it was called then, but whatever it was it was the period when we weren’t very good.
Manning isn’t a good defender but when he is in the team he at least helps give us an attacking threat by linking up with the left wing and Stuart making triangles to pass through the defence and get in behind.
We have lost that threat in recent games.

Yeah there’s an obligation to buy, so he won’t be back

Of the provisional list I think the only centre back who will be here will be Stephens. I doubt Alcaraz or Sulemana will either. But yeah quite hard to predict a lot of the players without knowing more of the behind the scenes info.

Having seen the latest accounts, with the caveat that I’m no financial expert, they don’t make for great reading to me. Be interesting to see how the board approach the summer and if they go all in on next season for promotion or take a more measured approach

You've got to think there's a point at which Solak thinks "what the **** have I done?"

I'd imagine that the first thing he should have a look at is the people who are actually running the club, and in fairness, I think he did do that when he brought Wilcox in. That's obviously now not quite worked out how he'd have liked, so that appointment is pretty crucial to us moving forwards. The last thing we need is Superbrain Ted Ankersen getting any more clever ideas. That's where it all started falling apart through last season.

I don't know who's available, or who is good at this stuff, but whoever it is, it would be good to get them in soon.
