In fact lets look at their incoming transfers this season. They have spent fees on 3 players; Hirst - was on loan at Ipswich last season, has scored 6 goals this season, is injured now. Taylor - backup midfielder. Al-Hamadi - backup striker, one for the future. Brought in Tuanzebe on a free. Loaned in 6 players; Travis - backup midfielder Scarlett - sent back to spurs Moore - high level championship striker Sarmiento - good player, doesn't start too often Williams - sent back to man utd Hutchinson - good player I think the only 'ambitious' signing there is Moore. The majority of their squad were signed in League One, most of them scouted by Sam Williams, head of recruitment, who has recently left Ipswich to be an academy scout at Man Utd. Also, I would've loved to see the reaction of our fanbase if we had appointed McKenna when Ipswich did. Would've been uproar. Nothing they are doing should be used as a reason to throw stick at the way we are doing things, because nothing they are doing is 'ambitious', it's just a good, clever plan.
5 PL games tonight. Still plenty to play for right through that league. It’s been a cracking season imo.
Some really smart signings though and shows that at times we’ve thrown money away signing similar players to what we have just to have them sat on the bench. Also goes against what people on this board are saying about Ipswich buying the league and will be f*cked if they don’t go up, i just don’t see it. They strengthened again in January to make a good go of this season and made decisions that covered all bases. Hirst was quality in the first half of the season until he picked an injury whilst Scarlett wasn’t up to it so they sent him packing and signed Moore and Al-Hamadi. Morsy and Luongo playing pretty much every game so they sign Travis as another experienced head to be in and around the squad in case they lose one of them. They’ve identified where problems could arise and acted on them whereas we’ve stood and watched our problems without doing anything about it. Mundle for me was just a pointless exercise he’s not better than Ba or Bennette. Travis was Blackburn captain and they’ve brought him into an already strong midfield set up, why weren’t we in for him for a fraction of the cost of what we’ve spent on mundle? Crying out for a player like him in our midfield. They signed 3 players in January that would all walk into our team yet only 1 of them walks into their own Xl (Moore).
Yeah I agree 100%. Smart club doing smart things. Just don't like the 'ambition' label when it doesn't really apply here.
