It could be argued there is a disconnect between KLD and Speakman. I am ok with patience whilst we rebuild this club of ours from the u9s upwards. I am all for the foundations beings solid. However Speakman went on record after our play off last season saying nobody is happy with the playoffs. He said his focus was on creating a squad that could compete for the top two. I recall at the time thinking he was naeive to say it, but loved his ambition. The problem now is we are aimless at first team level and light years away from the top 6 never mind top 2. So asking for fans patience is eminently sensible, but KLD needs to check in with his DoF to see if all are aligned. They talk a lot about elite performance cultures, and rightly so, but fans are entitled to question performance when it seems to be so far below targets.

It would be great if we could pick up an experienced director of football from somewhere. Especially as that person would only come if the funding was in place to build a promotion team.
I think that if you're taking about an elite performance culture on one hand while overseeing a team stripped of all it's experience in a precipitous decline on the other, supporters are well within their rights to suspect he's a bullshitter. It may be that this is as far as he can get, the next steps are beyond his ability and should be taken by someone else. The top clubs are completely cold blooded and emotionless about this, and that's why they're the top clubs.
I dont think hes a bullshitter personally. I do think he says a bit too much and gets carried away. He set the bar for the season though, and has to answer to that. I dont think he has given the head coach the toola to do the job, and has scapegoated both, but that is only my opinion. Only KLDs counts and we will see come the summer if he feels his DoF is the right man for the job or not.
get your point but too early to be massively concerned about that as there’s no telling what will happen this summer. more of the same as last summer and yes I’m worried too!
That’s all down to the next manager appointment and transfer business. Unless we balance the team with a couple of experienced players and a proper striker or two, I can see us struggling. All eyes on the club to see if they have learned a damn thing from this season.
This system we have is crackers at times but they've got more things right than wrong. Hiring a head coach who won't cause chaos will help a lot It's hard for me to predict but I'm hoping for a long winding road of discovery for Speakman and a top ten finish
It all depends on the manager and the recruitment especially on how we spend the Clarke money. However, Speakman fills me with zero confidence. Especially how he’s blown £2 million on the lad from Leeds and thinks Styles is a good player.
well out of 2/3 season they have got it right, and we were still pushing the top 6 till about 4-5 weeks ago the players who people are worried about losing are also the players this model brought in, if every time we have a poor season we want everything totally scrapped, we'll constantly going to be going around in circles small tweaks and we'll be fine we'll be pushing for promotion next season
Styles will sign perm imo, club tweeted constantly about him during the break, based on today he’s absolutely not a left back mind so hope we figure out what he is soon
Such a weird thing to say. The transfer window doesn't open for another 3 months. We don't even know who our manager will be. I swear some people on here just love being miserable. Strange as ****, imo!
…have you seen our business in the last 3 transfer windows? Scandalous. No confidence at all in Speakman to sort this squad out. We’ll lose players too. What is strange as **** is how many people just aren’t bothered about the mess we’re in.
How are folk not bothered? Just some folk make out its a bigger mess than what it is Not 1 supporter is happy with how this season has gone but some prefer to look on the positives. We have some exciting talent in our squad, yes we need to make improvements in the summer but we dont need an overhaul of the squad (so hardly a massive mess) Have the last few windows been good, imo no it hasnt but we still have talent in the squad I hate when posters make comments saying fans arent bothered about what is happening - just because they dont post consistently negative posts like some on here
