I’d be tempted to play Aribo with Downes for this. RM won’t want to leave Stephens out. So maybe a return to the West Brom away back 4? Personally I’d play the back 4 that was keeping teams out during our 25 game run and stick with it injury permitting from now on. Bree, Bednarek, THB, KWP, but we know RM has an obsession with Stephens.
I think that final nail was delivered some time ago. I feel the side are psychologically preparing for the play-offs. Build up.a head of steam with 4 games to go, so these games are entered on the back of a new wave of confidence.
Some of the players who have played for Saints and Ipswich since I have been Saints are Jim Magilton (I think he is still at Ipswich) Mick Mills Russell Osman Bartosz bialkowski Flynn Downes Richard Chaplow Kelvin Davis Ricardo Fuller Leon Best David McGoldrick Jermaine Wright Richard Wright Chris Makin Russell Osman was in the film Escape to victory. I have also just read that Paul Gascoigne had a trai with both Saints and Ipswich in his youth before joining Newcastle.
Really looking forward to this one. Had my eye on this away day since relegation pretty much and it's an absolutely massive. Really hope we get a performance at least if not a result.
How likely is it that a meltdown will occur if the unlikely (cough and throat clearing) event of a Saints loss happens. Which post match reaction will prevail. 1 - Calm acceptance of being beaten by the better team on the day. To 10 - Incendiary foam flecked invective aimed at all and sundry, cat launched into orbit by a kick worthy of Jonny Wilkinson at his best.
I think most fans think automatic promotion is pretty unlikely now so i dont think it would be too bad. It feels to me like we are starting to except it will be play offs for us.
I want to win because I think we will have to play them in the playoffs and we don’t want to do that without any regular season success.
