Personally I hope they bankrupt each other with legal fees! Lots of talk about 'poor, vulnerable Gullis' and talking about his pre-2019 self-harming. On the bright side I imagine there are plenty of people willing to do that for him at this stage. In fact there's probably a queue formed already!
I used to think that JK Rowling may only be raising some genuine concerns around transgender. Issues which I think are worth considering such as the implications of how they compete fairly in sport. But it's clear after her outbursts on twitter today she's nothing more than a nasty bigot and zealot.
Considering the main voice for sportswomen is Riley Gaines, who finished joint-fifth in a swim meet with a trans athlete and somehow convinced herself that the trans athlete was the reason for this and not the four people who finished ahead of her in the eyes of her parents who definitely don't have an agenda due to both being active in collegiate sports which definitely didn't give their daughter an unfair leg up in the first place...
I don't know who Riley Gaines is tbh. The problem I have with Rowling is this. I think there are a minority of men who will lie about their gender status to commit criminal acts or to avoid ending up in male prisons. Rowling wants to bang on about them to use as an example to tar the whole transgender community. But there are also the vast majority of transgender women who are going about living their lives. So how do we go about protecting these people from hate crimes whilst also dealing with those who lie to achieve personal gain? AND THAT is something JK Rowling isn't in the least bit interested in tackling. She uses a cheap way of attacking those who are trying to (and who may not be getting it completely right) without EVER providing any solution herself. And that to me, from someone as intelligent as her, demonstrates she's just a fcking bigot.
Gaines is the TERF that Fox News wheel out every single time, whose career trajectory is so remarkably suspect that I'm amazed nobody's done even a shallow dive into it - or offered the four girls who finished ahead of her pundit gigs on TV In the case of Rowling, there's the hilarious double standard that she shrieks about the trans community at any given opportunity - and yet literally pretended to be a man when she wrote her first detective novel, and continues to do so long after everybody and their dog knows that it's just JK Rowling writing under a man's name (but not just cribbing bits from Matilda, The Worst Witch and Luke Skywalker's character arc from the first three Star Wars films and thinking nobody would notice)
