Often hammered by fans despite not playing for most of the season but he’s a good player and has a decent finish in him. Next season we will see the best of him I’m sure.
His overall game could be improved, but he certainly has an eye for goal and is direct in his play, which is good to see. He makes things happen. That winner yesterday was class.
As I mentioned on the match thread, where I think he and Gordon would have been so important was allowing Isak to drop. When we have crap like Murphy and Almiron either side, we end up needing Isak to play as a focal striker, but Barnes/Gordon want to score and have the runs/intelligence to allow Isak a much better role. Minteh is similar, gets into scoring areas. Next season will be a good one.
I think you're confusing me with roly. I was pro Barnes. I may have said so far he's been a waste of money or something which was just true before Yesterday.
Well considering the toe injury was a freak accident and his hamstring only cost him a couple of games I’d say that’s not too shabby
Looking at his finishing and positional play up front, I'd put him in the middle on Tues night and play Isak off the left
Hopefully he does and hopefully Anderson and Hall start aswel. Longstaff was atrocious once again Saturday and he played 90.. I can't take any more of him falling over and just not impacting games in any way shape or form.
The thing is he could choose to play Anderson Isak and Murphy.. he might be thinking Barnes isn't ready for 90 mins
No, you play Isak up front but let him drop and then Barnes can push on from the wing. Would consider Anderson on the other side. It’s a good dynamic.
