Well up in Leeds but thought I would do the Plymouth thread before we go out for tea.
As said a fantastic result against the foxes yesterday.
Now onto another tough game against Plymouth in another sold out away game.
Personally thought Plymouth played some cracking football at Ashton Gate.
I liked the way they moved the ball about.
Having Matty James back is a massive boost and with Scott Twine back as well that is a big boost.
Hopefully city can put a decent show on in front of another sold out away end.
I’m going for a close 2-1 loss down there but hoping we can bring a point or three back.

I think this game will be a real test. Traditionally we have struggled to break down sides below us in the table. Having just beaten the league leaders - and considering our respective league positions - we will probably be favourites to win - which never bodes well.
On paper we SHOULD win, so I’m sticking my neck out and calling a 2-0 win to the mighty REDS but we are Bristol City so any result is a possibility!!

Agree, we need to show we can follow the great performance Friday with another one Monday, it’ll be good to introduce a level of consistency.

I think we are near as dam it safe so I'm not concerned either way, might be a good time to give any fringe/youngsters a run out....
Nothing to play for, might be worth experimenting

Agree we’re safe, was more thinking about using the remainder of the season to create a positive feeling to carry into next season, also there are many, me included, that need convincing about LM and a positive end of season would help on both counts.

Well he doesn't need to convince the likes of me.....I'd rather he sussed what players we have coming through that will adapt to the football he wants to play, giving him more of an idea who he needs to bring in....
Beating teams like Southampton and Leicester etc should be convincing enough to give him time IMO

Both of the teams you mentioned he didn’t play Manningball, both times he played to our strengths, which shows to me he can do it.

It’s not the players fault that they aren’t playing his system properly as he keeps saying, it’s his fault for insisting they play a system they aren’t suited to.

Now he needs to learn the best way is to use a system the players are suited too. if he wants to bring in his own way of playing do it slowly once he’s brought in players to match the system, rather than trying to force it on players. Evolution, not revolution.

He also needs to learn how to adapt in game, adapt to how the opposition are set up, he’s too rigid. I’ve noticed when the way we approach a game isn’t working he seems like a rabbit caught in headlights, with no idea how to change things.

Traditionally we’ve had a pretty poor record at Plymouth over the years
They score quite a few goals and concede plenty too
    2-1 Plymouth for me

I completely disagree with you on this..
I think that was the way he likes to play, We kept the ball well for a good part of the game. Leicester had a 15/20 minute spell and the odd mistake giving them chances but apart from that, you wouldn’t have known which team were at the top.. As was v Southampton, LMs tactics and subs were his and was spot on.. Starting Twine and James was key imo..
Your interpretation of LMs style is completely different to mine.. Seems to me your grieving for the previous manager is getting in the way of reality!! Also part of LMs style is not to sit and defend on a 1-0 lead, we continued the same way right till the end..

LMs got plenty to do to prove his worth -so far it is worse than Nige and nobody can deny that.
    The facts speak for themselves.
If he had lost on Friday and tomorrow he would have been gone .

I think we’ve currently won 1 game less than last year, so yes LM is currently worse than Nige - but ONLY if the league ended today. Liam still has 8 more games left, so I doubt if he will end up being worse.

    Sorry Ashton.......he DID.

It's just, and a big just, we have to adapt the 'other side' of Manningball.

For what it's worth I think we'll win again today. <cheers>

    Edit....Tomorrow <ok>

1 more win! and was saying quite a few games ago give the lesser players more game time . but depends on what the "management agreement" ideals are? finish higher than 12th?
I always look on teams that have played 40 games and are between 10pts from the top or ten points from the bottom it is season over and could or should "experiment" [ basicallymy thought is thats BCFC].

    CURRENTLY NO QUALIFIERS

    We need a striker
After we missed out on Fin Aziz, we should perhaps take a look at Morgan Whitaker of Plymouth in the summer ?

I’m not grieving for Nige, you keep saying it doesn’t make it fact.

As you mentioned it I will explain. I didn’t agree with the way we got rid of him, both on a human level, but more importantly for us as a club. But now he’s gone. It’s you that keeps mentioning him, not me.

I’ve already praised LM for the way he set up yesterday, and like you I like how we remain more positive when we take a lead under him, Nige did infuriate me by sitting too deep on a lead. I give praise where I see fit, but if I see issues I will call them out.

The points I raised in the previous post have nothing to do with anything other than the position we find ourselves in. If you are happy with where we are now, that’s your opinion, mine is that I’m not , and to suggest my views are based on Nige no longer being here is inaccurate.

In addition You do realise Twine isn’t going to be here next season and quite possibly James won’t either? , if you think those were the lynch pins for yesterday surely were going to be in trouble next season?

The same Morgan Whitaker that Lazio and Brentford are interested in?
