Just saying, Spurs, my week has mainly been spent recovering from apparent Ebola courtesy of childminding my niece and finding out just before I left that a cold has gone through her class like wildfire, while yesterday I had to make the decision of whether I wanted to flush my toilet more than once or have to pay a plumber double time to fix my system on Good Friday, so if you could maybe make my long weekend less stressful...?
My opinion of Werner is that people like him because he’ll give his all. Problem is we’ve had plenty of players like that over the years and whilst a bit of graft doesn’t hurt, it’s quality that gets you places and he lacks the latter.
Well, three points is three points. We were a lot better in second half, Johnson for me was great and technically got 2 assists albeit it’ll only officially count as 1. Sonny reliable as per usual, thought Lo Celso done ok when he came on as well. But a fair few concerns and question marks over some players short and long term futures.
Well that just reinforced what we pretty much already knew...Bissouma shouldn't start, nor Kulusevski. Johnson definitely should - and from that brief appearance so should Bentancur. Hopefully Maddison has only a minor issue. But I'm still surprised at how disorganised and slow we were for large portions of that game.
There's graft but also graft with something to it Michael Brown and Jamie O'Hara had graft, but nothing else Werner has graft, but his directness is welcome when all too often our midfield piddles about and he is one of the best dribblers we have While that does mean he is more a clear upgrade on Bryan Gil than a successor of Son/Bale/Ginola, that's also why the slating of him like he's the second coming of Jason Dozzell needs to be called out
I think we’ll see the best of Bentancur next season with a pre-season behind him, for now I don’t mind him coming on from the bench. Good to see him impacting things again though (actually thought Lo Celso was a tad better in fairness) but once he’s 100% injury free he’s in that starting XI without a doubt. Superb player. Completely agree on Johnson, probably MOTM too.
Yeah nothing wrong with his attitude but he’s a Fulham, Wolves mid table level. If Spurs have serious aspirations to challenge at the top of the table then Werner shouldn’t be signed permanently
