Good choice, thought the extra fruity (yesterday’s choice) were very good.
Give the cheese ones a miss. Might as well just buy a cheesy bread roll.

Enjoy the theatre Steels - very sophisticated and chilled day out .
We have an evenings entertainment planned at the newly revamped Bristol Beacon (formerly Colston Hall) to see Thundercat. Looking forward to seeing what they’ve done with the place and some Thundercat vibes :emoticon-0100-smile

Very civilised. I enjoy a night at the theatre now and then. Sounds like you and the Mrs would like a thing we went to see a few weeks ago called Murder Trial Tonight, which was basically a reconstruction of a real murder trial. You are given some basic facts about the people involved and then watch the trial evidence being given followed by the councels' closing statements and the judge's summing up. The audience then acts as the jury by voting guilty or not guilty. An enjoyable and intriguing evening.

Our next theatre outing is to see Michael Sheen in Nye at the National Theatre.

A lot more sophisticated and civilised than jumping around in a mosh pit like I did last night!

Actually quite enjoyed the experience of the theatre so we'll be looking at doing something similar....not gonna leave it another 40 years this time!

Just released on Netflix, would really recommend "The Beautiful Game" with Bill Nighy as Coach of the 4-a-side football team (plus 2 subs) representing Britain at the Homeless World Cup in Rome.

So Hayward's Medium Picked Onions and Heinz English Salad Dressing, both of which available over here, would do the trick?

To be fair, I’d imagine a freshly laid dog’s egg would be a taste sensation too.

Restaurant review- Miller and Carter. This is a chain of steak restaurants, walk past the one in Stratford a lot and we thought we’d give it a try.

In terms of decor it does a half decent impression of a US steak restaurant. The prices aren’t quite as high as a proper top end steak place but are pretty steep. There is a long and complicated menu, always a warning sign.

Sat down, order taken, starters (decent, not great) arrived, no sign of the wine……for ages until we reminded them. Starters finished, plates sat in front of us……for ages. Steak delivered, minus all the other stuff -salad, fries etc. also minus anything to eat it with. Plus the unappetising steak had obviously been sitting somewhere for an age, peppercorn sauce had a nasty skin on it, the herb butter on the top had congealed…..seems that our server must have been outside for a smoke break, but had been smoking a large Churchill cigar for an hour or so….

…..at which point we had the great pleasure of saying, very politely, err, no thanks, this is crap. We’ll pay for the starter and a couple of glasses of wine and be on our way. The manager, in a panic, did the right thing and said that there was no need to pay anything. It was interesting seeing the faces of some of the other diners, particularly the younger ones who might not have realised that poor food and non existent service do not have to be meekly accepted, as we walked out.

Usually I can put up with average stuff and service for average prices. But not poor stuff and zero service. Not recommended, but an unusually pleasurable experience to walk out.

Quality (and speed) of service is almost more important to me than quality of food. As Giles Coren said, sit me down and give me a drink and I'm already happy.

Hopefully the Westwood will have responded to my negative criticism from last week.

Two things really piss me off … a gap between your food arriving and your partners - we came to eat dinner together ffs and getting your food and the wine hasn’t arrived - what we’re you even thinking!!

Good on you Sb, crap food and crap service is a definite complaint as a minimum and totally unacceptable.

Just finished the new BBC drama This Town, set in Birmingham/Coventry in the early 80s. Racial tensions, social disorder, Irish Republicanism, addiction, and a love of music all add to a good story backed up by an outstanding soundtrack, lots of top quality ska, two-tone, reggae, punk and post-punk thrown together to perfectly complement the storyline - very enjoyable and an easy watch
