Just seen the equaliser back and Kyle was nowhere near the scorer, having been next to him before the cross came in. Mind you I think he was in two minds as to where the ball was going and may have been distracted by the unmarked player behind him. Poor goal to concede by any metric. Maybe another manager would have put Bedders on before added time, instead of pushing for the second? All irrelevant now.
In other odd results. Hull lose at home to Stoke. Always look on the bright side. Just not in Southampton or Stockton.
I know I’m being very negative here, but I think it’s promotion this season or bust for a while, it will likely be a massively downgraded side next season, almost every key player is leaving in the summer.
Hard to say really til we see who we bring in, but yeah the squad will look hugely different. Wouldn’t surprise me if Manning is the only player from our “best 11” who is still here
I don't blame Che at all for today. That five minute period (goal ruled out for offside, missed a one-on-one, missed a sitter) was basically a summary of his entire Saints career. The fact that we're still relying on him as our number 9 (and I don't see anyone else in our squad who can do that right now) is shameful on the club. They were the ones who decided to spend £10m (a sizeable amount of money at this level) on a injured striker. And then did nothing further about it in January.
Reckon we'll still have Bazunu, Downes, Smallbone, Stuie, Adarma, Fraser. Baz Bree Stephens Bednarek/loan Larios Downes Stu Smallbone Fraser Stewart Adarma
I do. What we did or didn't do in the transfer market didn't affect him missing two sitters in quick succession.
Given how often Leeds are on TV this season, I feel like I've seen a huge amount of their matches. And I couldn't shift the feeling throughout the second half today that what I was watching was miles removed from when I watch Leeds. Our game was way too open. We neither killed it off, nor shut up shot. Our most defensive substitute was Aribo, who came on in injury time and is hardly a defensive player. Yes it felt like we could score a second, but it also felt like we could concede. Yet watching Leeds, that feeling is never there. Teams can't lay a glove on Leeds. They take the lead, and they see it out. There's never a good reason for bringing Mara on when holding onto a 1-0 lead. He's not that sort striker. It basically put us down to 10 men (which has happened before this season in our 1-1 draws). Every day of the week it should have been Bednarek who came on for Adam for those final few minutes.
Forgot about A Armstrong, yeah he’ll probably still be here. Don’t think Downes or Fraser will be. Bazunu 50/50, can see a PL team coming in for him. Smallbone possibly but think Stu and Bednarek will be off because of their wages. Anyway we will have to wait and see. Can see there being lots of movement whatever league we are in
But he's useless at finishing. So, shock horror, he misses great chances. If we're happy to keep on putting him in that position, we only have ourselves to blame for that.
I’m still fuming with him for missing two sitters at Palace last season, and costing Ralph his job (the crowd turned on the manager that day).
Was going to write the sane about Msra. Total luxury player. Was a bad sub that one. Reason we get put under pressure so often is because we have one good tackler in midfield. Smallbone and Stu aren't CMs.
Oh didn’t realise he was out of contract. Yeah he definitely is off then, imagine it’s his last season regardless of what league we are in
