Not lucky at all.. should have had at least one pen in first half..One of those Vardy chances was a stupid mistake from Zak gifting him his chance.. As to 90% of fan base, really? Did you notice RR, no sitting on the lead?
I’m not dodging anything , unlike you, you dismissed it as a sideshow , as for this season, Mannings record is really poor, it’s only the points we had before he arrived that are preventing us from fighting relegation. We can have opinions about Nige,LM or whatever but the facts are there for all to see, as long as you’re prepared to see them.
I get what you’re saying Ashton about the results etc but I can see (which reassures me) that we have the potential with the tactics used by LM that we will progress. There is much more of a structure & game plan that he applies and as time goes on the players will become better at understanding how he wants to play.. Defo needs a couple of signings… out and out goal scorer has to be top of the list.
I didn’t want Pearson sacked - but he was. We now have Liam. Results have been ‘inconsistent’ - but that’s was the same with Nige. Love the way we play vs top opposition. We need to fix the way we play against struggling teams. Fix that and we’ll do well. Loving a very Good Friday in the R&W camp - off to see some live music later in the pub by Swindon Station if anyone is about? The Queens Tap - come and celebrate with me and Mrs R&W !!!!!!!
I enjoyed that game, if it would have ended in a draw or a 1-0 loss I thought we played well. So to get the win was great. What I really liked was Roberts and Pring, the way they swapped around was great to watch. MOL was great in those saves likewise that saving tackle by Turner who equally played well behind Mehmetti. Twine behind TC who were both unlucky not to score with their keepers double save. Subs were also spot on today. Only downside for me was the bastard sun in my eyes again so missed both penalty appeals as I never saluted quickly enough.
The one on Dickie should have definitely been pen.. 2nd one which was on Conway, could have been given, might have been at least a free kick outside the box and defender would have been lucky to have stayed on the pitch as he was last man.. I agree the subs were spot on
To be fair our results suggested we’d lose Today has been a great result as was Watford and a couple of others But LMs record with us isn’t great and good results and performances have been in the minority
The disparity between us playing the top clubs and the lower level clubs is quite disconcerting and if we could come up with a game plan for both those scenarios we could be in with a chance. When you remove the ifs, ands and buts from todays game I think we performed quite well and Mehmeti's screamer was a wonder to behold but Max's point blank saves kept us in the match enabling us to take all 3 points. One of the biggest frustrations for me is why we can't come up with a selection of game plans to suit every other team's playing strategies and therefore change us from an annual mid-table club to a contender. The big question is to why we are so inept for some games and a free flowing outfit for others, so I ask is it down to a poor selection of players or the coaching they are getting? In all honesty my jury is still out on Liam but I do think we have looked a bit more intense under his direction, but is he capable, with a few better players, of turning Bristol City into a contender, or are we going to be asking the same questions next season? If you think about it would we be in with a good shot of the play-offs if we were capable of putting in performances like today - I think so!
Nige’s record wasn’t great either and most of the performances even worse.. I didn’t think we would lose today, I believe Redprintt was the same.. RR is still angry with the sacking of Nige and because of that wants the next manager to fail.. but IMO Nige struggled with the tactics on the pitch and I see LM’s setting up the team and shape far better.. I believe we have a good one here, just needs time and a few additions.. we should get behind him..
I suppose you could say that about Southampton & Leicester, playing us could look like playing a lesser team.. It’s the championship, need to learn how to grind out results when required.. but it’s not easy..
The main Leicester forum is in meltdown. Anyone would think they were about to be relegated…. https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/134410-bristol-city-1-0-lcfc-post-match-thread/page/6/ On the subject of beating teams that ‘park the bus’ - I posted on an OTIB thread that my own opinion is that you beat teams like those by going ‘route 1’ - it isn’t pretty, but it can be effective against sides like that. The trouble is we don’t have anyone big enough to be a proper ‘target man’ for that job, so in the meantime we try and play through them - with very limited success.
Its also generally ineffective versus teams dropping off as they have superiority in numbers. Move the ball, move the opposition to create opportunity.
Agreed But Because our club is really badly run, by people that know jack about football, it’s led to appointments that over the last decade have split supporters loyalties and have included unfair dismissals It could and should have been all so different had the owners been professional in their approach to what they wanted and gone about it the right way All it’s led to is mistrust in the owner and his real motives, and the splitting of the fan base
But the opposition don’t get drawn - that’s the trouble. They pack the box and we can’t dance our way through. We have a small (in stature) squad. Many of the struggling sides have big tall strong centre-backs who crowd us out. If we had our own big man I think it would give us a viable ‘plan B’ - which we don’t have right now. EDIT - Just to add; the only way to draw those sides out is to go 1-0 up - then they HAVE to come at us - and then we can revert to our ‘Plan A’ again because the game would open up.
Matty James back and we win. Gotta say he is so important to how we play. Still the best player and most influential down the gate.
