Should, but they won’t It’s all a very cosy arrangement at the top of the club No one admits to being accountable for all of the bad decisions we’ve witnessed over the last decade and more And who can blame them
i do wish people would get the info correct when they publish ...we are all prone to error... but ............. NP LAST GAME 5 PTS FROM 6TH CARETAKER 4 PTS FROM 6TH .. played bottom of league who were 12 points below us and had player sent off won 1-0 LM first game 4pts off of 6th LM 2nd game 3pts off of 6th LM 3rd GAME 5PTS OFF OF 6TH
Be interested to know how we stood this time last year and the year before....TBF all of it has been sh!t..
The difference being we were aware we were in a transitional period, this season we were supposed to be pushing on, but instead the three stooges decided rather than invest we’d have a “nest egg”, they then changed to a new coach, they said we had the best squad in years it was the manager holding us back. Now the new coach hasn’t improved things the narrative has changed to squad not good enough, need the summer to bring in new players, all along hiding the fact the problem was not the manager, but the governance of the club,
NOW Norwich are 14 points ahead of us, Coventry 10, and Watford are I point ahead (although im not sure the relevance of 3 random clubs to our plight), other than to show how badly we’ve done since LM’s arrival.
The next manager after Nige was always going to be on a hiding to nothing. Nige had a free hit as everyone just says his remit was to ‘steady the ship’ so a lot fans seem happy with that as an achievement, despite successive bottom half finishes, I don’t, but that puts me in the minority, apparently.
His remit WAS to steady the ship initially, he achieved his remit. The next bit was to push on, but it was decided he wasn’t trusted to take on that element, which is why the nest egg was set aside rather than reinvesting last summer. They’d already decided he wasn’t going to be given a new contract, hardly a free hit. Unless we reinvest significantly this summer we’ll be in trouble next season as well.
IMO he only just steadied a ship left behind by DH as he was dropping us down the league from a decent position left by LJ. Yes he was part of thinning the squad but also had some decent players playing at the time......pretty much failed any progression on the field, much to do with poor tactics, some dodgy substitutions and formations.. IMO. NB....is it your interpretation that they decided not to renew his contract last summer, or was it fact?
Dont know about the new contract bit, but it was made pretty clear there would be £x? m available whether AS was sold or not, but there was never really a player available to warrant "the guaranteed up to£10m" promised. Whether "it is believed " he [ NP ] was not to be trusted is up to individuals interpretation. We all pretty much know NP was not in a good place physically [ maybe leading to being stress/ mental blockages/ etc ?! ] he was missing out on presence during training at Failand which was a matter of concern.
Pretty much all of that post is up to people’s interpretation, we all hear snippets, but don’t really know what happened, it was pretty clear he wasn’t going to be offered a new contract, I don’t think that’s even disputed by anyone, the board included.
Bristol City partly have Aden Flint to thank for £20m masterstroke: View Bristol City sold Aden Flint to Middlesbrough and replaced him with Adam Webster, moves which made the club a lot of money https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/b...t-to-thank-for-20m-adam-webster-masterstroke/
That was how we operated when the market was buoyant under the old ‘normal’. It worked well at that time. Then - crash. COVID happened, the bottom fell out of the transfer market and we were stuck with expensive players that we couldn’t shift.
