Rotator cuff issues currently, in my right shoulder. A constant dull throb, wakes me up in the night often as well. As a result, have sacked off gym till new year and will be trying to make some sort of runner out of myself again when I come back to work. During the first lockdowns when we were allowed out for period of exercise (nice of them), I did manage to crack 10k. That's the target again, although if I can run a 5k maybe three times a week that should be fine. It's all in my head. Get bored too quickly and give in to niggles too quickly. Not that I plan to run through injuries and **** things up, no point in doing that. Till then though, pretty much carbo loading on beer and festive food!!
You had it diagnosed? - Just asking coz sounds very similat to the calcific tendinitis I had in my shoulder a few years ago - had the constant ache but also hurt to reach up and out ...
Going to use the time off to get the cardio up. Hate running with a passion but quite like my long walks in a weighted vest. People think it’s a suicide vest but it helps build up a sweat and no injury risk. Maybe a bit of cycling in the gym with a bit of Netflix but even that is painfully dull.
Self diagnosed, but I'm fairly sure what it is. Mate of mine GP concurred pretty much. I off load all my ailments on him! I won't be free weight lifting for a bit, just need some time off from that and hope it heals.
When I start back after new year will do treadmill running till the evenings are less dark, then out on road. I find road/cross country less boring, although not much, and you have to get back to the start point so can't just **** it off.
Yeah just do what works for you. Too many people try and force themselves to run or gym when it’s just not their thing and give up. Will try and play a bit more 5-a-side too in the new year.
The new home use treadmills are very small and can be folded and put away like an ironing board, and are good quality. https://www.sweatband.com/products/reebok-i-run-4-0-folding-treadmill The new Adidas T-24 will be coming out in January and its going to kick ass.
Quite like the idea of a treadmill desk but then think they look incredibly gay. We have adjustable desks at work so I can just stand. Burn a lot of calories just being on your feet rather than sat on your arse for seven hours.
The best one for a standing desk is the Dynamax Running Pad. It doesnt look like much, but its got it where it counts....made a lot of special modifications myself https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7610390 I get what you mean about the gay thing tho. Can't be helped. Make it too cool looking and you are just adding to the size and weight, makes it less practical.
CBA. Can just stand up and walk about a bit when on calls. Google says if I stand for five hours extra over sitting that’s 275cals a day so you’re knocking off about 2kg in theory over a month. Reality is if you can just do an extra couple of hours a day it’ll add up over a year.
And if you feel your day needs livening up, you can always get on the bus in your vest, and start fiddling with it while muttering Allah u Akbar
I don’t take the bus. I’m not a peasant. Like all millennials I drive a motorised scooter while whatsapping.
You won’t be needing a suicide vest in that case. Just be sure you dress head to toe in black, especially after dark.
Got a session of lumping boxes up and down two flights of stairs all morning, then chopping up the tree. First workout of the year.
Summer around the corner you guys x Got the 42s up for five shoulder presses which I hadn’t done before. Get the 50s for the end of the year.
I'm cutting down to 19% body fat which means I'm going to start getting even more grumpy over the next few months to get to sub 15.
