Fair enough, I misunderstood your intent. Apologies. (But last post seems like you're arguing with yourself haha)
And 12 months on, he's not solved the goal scoring issue or taken us to the play offs ( yet )..... But I'm pretty sure I said I didn't think he was experienced and good enough to take us up, which I'm still not convinced he is at this stage of his career. You might think he has solved it and will take us into the play off, which you're completely entitled to
ATM, nobody, as I've said more then once tonight, I think LR deserves to start next season with us and have one more window ( summer ) to sort out the goal scoring issue. If after that he doesn't solve it and or continue the improvement shown this season then serious questions will be asked
That's fair enough. So what makes you think that both he and the squad won't naturally develop further with greater stability, familiarity and experience?
I'm just not sure he knows how to/has the experience needed solve the goal scoring issue based on the (almost)season and a halfs evidence since he's been here. But the improvements he's given us in other areas means he deserves the chance to solve it..... I also think he needs to get better at picking up positive results against teams that set up to sit back and let us have possession. We all to often this season look like we have no idea on a plan to counter it and break them down
I reckon he’ll have watched a couple of games he played, Rosenior is nothing if not thorough. I doubt he’ll have signed him off the back of a YouTube highlight reel and fifa stats so will have known what he was getting.
Plenty more 'experienced' coaches have struggled with the same thing at the sharp end of the championship. Personally, I think stability is key to it clicking in the final 3rd. And we've had a lot of churn in those areas. Necessary churn I'd argue, but you don't get max potential from the sum of those parts in just the 8 or 9 games they've been together, and if we'd managed to keep Delap fit, then I think it'd have been easier for some of the Jan signings to fit into an existing structure than have to forge a practically new one of their own.
I assume it's one of those loan as trial type scenarios and we have a potential development interest in him in the longer term. I doubt he's using that much budget, cos I don't think we had much by the time we signed him.
Wouldn't have thought so, no. In a way I'd actually hope we sell Philogene, as I think getting Delap on a permanent as well as someone like Zaroury and Giles (who collectively I think would cost less than we could get for Philogene) would set us up better for next season.
