What kind of rum tho?? A tot of Kraken is very nice or Chairman's Reserve Spiced, but Havana Club 7 is the creme del a creme.
Appleton's direct from Jamaica and flown in by my special courier. Ok, she goes there a lot anyway. Club 7 as you say is more than tidy too.
Was once on a course with the owner of Appletons! Lovely guy......we talked about crime on the island.....he never had any bother.....he sadi "everyone knows that Tony carries a gun!!"
Three quarters of the way through lambing and the trials and tribulations. Still got a 'house guest'. A bit prolonged this one. After the trauma of a c-section (twin and mother didn't make it ) it had a rocky start. A few breathing problems and a few intestinal problems. Mrs Remote great at finding solutions, often on the 'ladies that lamb' forum. Who'd have thought there was such a thing? Early on it was scouring and passing blood. A couple days of rehydration with a home made water, glucose and salt mix, then a mix of that and milk. Finally, just milk. Daily injections of antibiotics as well. Trying to find a muscle to inject into was a challenge It's only a scrap of a thing. A different problem then. Constipation. A tablespoon full of olive oil in the milk. Got to get the balance right. Don't want a poonamy. Hopefully get it to the shed with the other cades soon. The dog thinks it's great having a friend to play with though. Fingers crossed for some dry weather so the fields stop being lakes and we can turn the ewes and lambs out on grass. The cades will be inside for a bit longer though.
I was wondering what had happened to the mother. I like the fact that the lamb and dog get on. So different to some of the horrors we hear about in the fields.
She just never recovered from what caused the initial issue. She was suffering, so had the knacker man out. Sad, but the kindest thing. Our terrier has been used to lambs in an out since it was a pup. He tends to mother them, though he can get a bit obsessed. He likes licking milk from around her mouth. Our daughters collies were brought up with them as well and are working dogs. The issue we have with cades and dogs is the lamb doesn't respect the dog. Once they are adults the dog can't shift them as they are used to them. Makes rounding up or moving sheep a challenge.
Lovely photo Remote. Shows how different species can get on. Don't ask me to lick milk from a Jack's mouth though. Or a Wurzel's either. Leave that last bit to Brizzle.
Latest on the c-section lamb. After resolving its scouring, it picked up and was very lively. We were planning on taking it to the farm to be with the other cades. Day before ysterday it went the other way and got bunged. Was in a bad way. Milk of magnesia wasn't doing it. So, one for clingo, a soapy water enema. Last night we thought it was on its way out. It was still hanging on this morning but we contacted the knackerman as we didn't want to prolong what we thought was inevitable. Mrs Knackerman exchanged messages with Mrs Remote to say they would be delayed. In the meantime the lamb performed a Lazarus like recovery. From flat out for 18 hours to boining round the kitchen. The enema has done its job. $h!t everywhere. Trying to clean it up, it was wagging its tail. Mrs Remote now covered in gloopy poopy.
What? Eh? Why me? With friends like you who needs....you know the rest. Well done the lamb! Perhaps we could do something similar with our ailing football team ( off topic sorry).
