Having a bit of chat about being injured and coming back. Hopefully he can have an impact between now and the end of the season.

I know I'm in a minority but I'd like Evans to stay and play.

He's a very clever player and a good captain imo.

Games a lot different to training... explains a lot on how Burstow, Hemir, Ba can shine in training but very ineffective in a game.

Hopefully the club offer Evans a new deal.

Id like to see us set our sights higher than Evans and sign a decent CDM around the mid to late 20s.
I like the bloke and hes good to have around the place because of his experience, but he's nearly in his mid 30s now, injury prone and it goes to show when he moved down to League 1 to sign for us he had very little interest from any other Championship teams. He was struggling to get game time for Blackburn.
If we want top 6 next season we really need to set our ambitions higher.

Don't say you want a less experienced player to replace an experienced player man, this board will absolutely cack its pants!

    I agree mate, totally.

But we need more than one CDM and he's perfect to have for rotation.

By all means improve the side but no one at the club is currently as good in that position.

There's a few we could try, before the end of the season like Elise, Seelt, Hume but it's not an easy position imo.

I would hope Ekwah will improve next season after his first full season playing Championship football but id like to see a new CDM playing alongside Neil, with Ekwah as back up to him.
Its an area we really need to improve in quality wise, and i just dont think Evans is a solution for us if we want to keep on improving and moving forward as a club.

Triantis supposedly doing very very well at Hibs in a defensive mid role. Hoping he can plug the hole for us.

With our strict wage structure id really like to see us use his wages go towards some new signings of higher quality

We should wait and see what he can do before the seasons over, before committing to renewing him, the squad is already bloated and we probably need a few to leave before we can recruit.

One of the most pointless and disappointing signings weve made in a long time.

Sadly, more likely to score than any of our strikers.

Yeah unfortunately signing young novices and expecting at least one of them to score 15 goals it comes back to bite you on the ar#e. Not one of them looks ready to play at this level at all nevermind fire us up the league.

Last i saw Mayenda hasnt even started a game for Hibs yet.

8 games left, I bet if he started those 8 games he'd get 3 goals, which is more than I would estimate for the others.

    I wouldn't bet against you.

I watched him in the reserves, against Leicester, and it was laughable how easy he made it look.

I know the Championship is different but he's done well there before.

Good to hear he is making good progress and we could see him before the end of the season if not before. Also said he felt part of the Sunderland family and has been well looked after. So good to hear too .We should consider keeping him until someone we have is better, whether its a step up from someone already hear or brought in who is already better. It could be another potential who might need a bit longer to settle in who knows but hopefully we have another really good go and have another great season end like the last one. We all live in hope.

Really missed him as a team.

If he’s fit enough to feature in the run in, him and Neil should be the first choice pairing in the middle.

Just the kind of person I'd like on the staff going forward.

Great for bringing kids through imo ...

Im aready looking forward to next season. This season has been a big reality check, after sealing promotion and being so close again last season, because i honestly think without the injuries we'd have been in the Premiership this season and we'd have won the playoffs.

Its back to basics now, and i hope our hierarchy have also had a wake up call in trying to be a strong team in this league with so many inexperienced kids. Our lineup against Southampton with an average age of about 21 was pretty embarrassing really and a big concern in how weve gone about recruiting this season. The only experienced players we bought in was Dack and the least said about him the better.
