Supper happy for Carlos and the 1-2, but boy I was worried about George for a second there.

Thankfully the aftermath looked worse than the event

This makes up for me giving Carlos the ultimate curse a couple of weeks ago. :)

Still a somewhat dull race, but at least we had some questions about who might win

Tremendous race from Sainz, really top notch after being in surgery a couple of weeks back!

Delighted for him, massive points hauls for Ferrari and McLaren too.

What I take from that is, at least Red Bull aren't winning ever race this season.

    And a Ferrari 1-2. :)

Turns out losing appendix weight does the world of good.

Also turns out that when you remove Max from the equation, you’re not sure who might win.

Fantastic job by Carlos all weekend. Hats off.

Alonso and Russell were called to the stewards, who penalised the Spaniard 20 seconds, dropping him to eighth place, and gave him three penalty points on his licence for what stewards said driving "in a manner that was at very least 'potentially dangerous' given the very high speed nature of that point of the track".

Alonso admitted slowing too early and then accelerating again before braking, but said he got the manoeuvre "slightly wrong".

Expertly executed by Carlos, he’s been on top of the car all weekend despite his lack of prep. Obviously a different winner will please people, but actually a pretty dull race with most of the cars running the same relative pace due to the need to manage the deg.

Quite a few cars within one good development step of each other now bodes well for some variety going forward.

Perez seemed briefly fast, but other than that there was no real sign of excess RedBull pace today - it would have been interesting to know what would have happened without Max’s problem. RedBull execution has been excellent for so long now, you do have to wonder if the recent noise around the team is having some effect.

    dull race.

saw the highlights with almost no passing at all.

tactically mclaren ****ed it on pit stops and should have undercut ferrari 100%

most of the action was close with drs but zero chance to pass.

mildly interesting to see verstappen on fire and a silly accident but after that I even fast forwarded the highlight show.

the only crumb is maybe red bull are that worried they've cut cooling on the brakes to get less drag as they are worried?

Brake was rubbing from the start apparently, so not cooling decision related.

Tremendous- Bottas has truly become one of F1s characters in Raikonnens absence.

Where was this guy at Mercedes?!

OK so the race wasn't the most exciting but at least we didn't know who was going to win after the first corner.
Nice to see Carlos on the top step - I chose him as he hasn't had a great start to the season with losing his seat then his appendix, so thought it would be a nice reward for him :)
I feel a bit sad saying that this was actually a good race as I'm just comparing it to the last 18 months or so of races! That's a sad thing to say.

    problem 1. nobody could pass

problem 2. teams dumped c4 medium the second they could and made it a 2 stop but a near complete race on hards.

it was a tyre managing race. nothing more.
