I've used it a few times on this thread based on something Cityzen wrote about there not being enough of it.
I said as an aside. Nothing whiny about it. It was a statement. Then soft, whiny sods write thatbImsaid something completely different. Syditis seems to be catching.
'So, they will be doing this with flags of other countries? Of course they won’t as there would be more of an outcry. But they know in this country some daft sods accept any **** about their own country'. Your words. Not an aside. Whiny as hell.
Nothing whiny about it. Statements of fact. They won’t be doing it with other countries. But hey know they can get away with it as some daft sods in this country don’t care about their own country. You come across as very whiny,
Certainly! for sure is some US / European expression that is non sensical and should be avoided at all costs
If you need to should your patriotism from the rooftops, it’s probably not well founded. Your right that I probably don’t understand your patriotism, but it doesn’t make me wrong, just that I have a different opinion, which is my right, in a British democracy.
So because some aren't arsed about the emblem, they automatically don't care about their country? Quite the jump there cowboy. From many of your comments I appear to be happier here than you, whether it be slating female commentators or young people for eating avocados... I do suspect much of it is for effect and to feel a bit like you have your finger on the pulse. It is in fact the younger generation that gives me hope for the future of this country, as I prefer not to languish in the past, and lament its passing. Surely, being hopeful is in fact more patriotic? It may be one of the reasons why I'll never grow old with a frown furrowed across my face.
I said I wouldn’t grow old with a frowny face too , BUT it’s unavoidable because you will lament the loss of the qualities and standards and manners and behaviours - they will have passed - as they have now . Self righteous people will be even more common , your children and their children will suffer for everything that’s being watered down , manipulated and imposed on them by people in leafy suburbs who never touch on the realities of life for about 80% of this nation . And the well educated ‘professionals’ will use their eloquence to say ‘it’s not a problem ‘ it’s modern times move with it ‘ and the obvious problems of mass migration will subverse what we hold dear, the values of the British people. So these little things like this poorly judged ‘trendy’ version of the St George emblem being ‘accepted’ are the tiny steps to the problems I have suggested are here and growing. As ageing is inevitable - remember that , and when you are old and frowny and your zeal has been battered into acceptance of things you were not allowed to decide , look back - as you will , and recall this event. Assuming you have the ability to do so - I hope you do for obvious reasons Other than this - c’mon City
I'm not a fan of avocados - slimy, tasteless baby food and not great for the environment... ; But the future is bright.. electric car batteries soon to hit the 1000km range threshold, 30% and increasing of UK salad and herbs (plus many vegetables) sustainably grown in multistory containers/buildings in brownfield urban farms and powered by renewable energy and a globalised world, integrating and communicating better to further cooperation. Add on to this space exploration and the future is exciting. Just need to wait for the old man aggressive politics, divide and rule greed tactics and the narcissism of petty differences to pass with ours and older generations and the planet will move forwards in a positive way. Get more women involved in global leadership, especially in the middle east, and the world will be a happier, more balanced place. Patriotism can be positive or negative depending on how it's wielded, and we choose as individuals how to do this.
Not the sharpest tool in the box, are you? My comment was a response to your, like so many, categorising someone with a different opinion as a gammon and saying go eat your porridge or whatever. Incidentally, I like avocados and have a toast avocado and poached egg breakfast quite regularly. Though not a vegetarian or vegan I have meat free days every week replacing meat with tofu. Brighter posters like TwoWrights can recognise these things. Not liking females commentating on male football? How awful. There are a lot of males Inwould not have on anyway. Younger people will alter as they get older and gain experience of life. Being a teenager in the 1960s I was of a generation constantly telling my dad how we were going to improve the mess his generation had made of the world. Now I find myself agreeing with many things he had said and admitting to myself many of the things he said were correct.
You're pretty harmless overall but you do somewhat struggle to be self-effacing at times, when you really ought to be. Just my opinion, of course.
