Ohio has played just over 90 mins for us And he saved us from being embarrased at rotherham In a brand new league
Young and raw, one with potential were having a look at in the absence of Delap, and in the realisation we signed a carthorse in Sharp. But he's going to have to do a job for the team as well as find a finish to succeed in this league.
Are you alright or what? You replied to my post about there wages being the same as Oscar’s for the 6 months there here.
Ok, but Sharps ends after 6 months. Oscar is a 2 year liability and he's coming into his last year so resale is going to fall or he goes for nowt. The only reason he was back was to ensure the Bahia contract contained securities for city, that if certain conditions were met the buy clause triggered. Frankly, it'll be a bit of a disaster if we don't get value for Oscar this summer.
Again, what are you on about? I said the wages they both cost we could’ve kept Oscar for the last 6 months who’d have 100% contributed more. But yeah you keep waffling on about how we got a loan fee and a couple mill for him potentially instead of 10m if we’d kept him and he got another 10+ goals.
But if last season's record with him in the team to this point is anything to go by, we've scored more, not less. The sad fact is, budgets are a thing. And it's proven this season he's worth more out than in. We've just come off a run of 10 games with a 1.9 point average, since the new players came in. Whens the last time we did that in the championship? ...and all you can do is look for stuff that you'd have done better. Well **** me sideways, maybe you should get an agent. Sure to find you a gig somewhere.
Why do you always do this? Bring up points that have nothing to do with what people are talking about? All I said was Oscar would’ve done more than Sharp and Ohio have.
Well he didn't do much more in the second half of last season. We got him for free, we're turning a profit that is helping fund this year's squad, who are doing better than last year's squad, and that's the reality. In fact If you take a hat trick and 2 braces out of it, he was very average indeed, as a very high earner with a transfer value.
I asked Amin for his source on this but do you have a source on this? Reasonably sure Oscar was on a lot more than Sharp and Ohio combined, which is evidenced by us pushing him out. If he was on the same as them combined then he'd still be here and they wouldn't be.
They're here on short term deals, and don't have deal to 2025 as a high earner, neither do they have an independently estimated transfer value of 4m - of which we've received a mil of it, and someone else picking up his alleged 20k plus (conservatively) a week wage as well. Keeping him as a bench option was not an option if we wanted to pursue the policy we have this Jan. It's not a case of what you rather, it has to be taken as part of a transfer strategy in the whole. And it's improved us. Frankly.
Oscar had a great start to that season, scoring 7 in the first 6 games. After that his scoring record was worse than Delap's, scoring 6 in 29 for the rest of the season.
Oscar would be offering the team much more than Delap is doing. I also think we’d have been better off with him here and one less of Zaroury, Carvalho, or Omur if that’s what it came down to. As I said at the time and will say again now they are all very good players but all competing for the same role, we didn’t need all 3 there are other areas of the squad that should have seen that money spent there (like the striker, which we are currently just playing without).
I don’t think Oscar is the answer to our goalscoring problems. Yes, he’s a poacher, but he had a honeymoon period and then went off the boil. Some people seem to forget that. His touch let him down a lot and would often lose it in our build up play. For me, we just don’t create enough quality chances. We do dominate the ball and therefore restrict the chances at our end also, that is the risk we take playing this way. I don’t believe it is the right way to play and I think we should have just gone for it more, given the talent we have. But as always, time will tell. If Rosenior gets us in the playoffs, I will hold my hands up and say I was wrong. I just worry this style of football will never get you enough goals (unless you do have that top striker, who is clearly out of our price range). Having said all that, Delap in this team leading the line would improve our chances massively and we should be doing everything we can to sign him.
