Surprised me as well, they must be very confident that he's over the injury and it won't reoccur. Which is good.
Great bit of business for me, bringing the amount of games he has played for us is being arsey as he would've played a lot more had the club not pressured him into playing against Luton. He would have had a lot of admirers so it's great he's decided to extend
Had other issues too though. No just that injury. Whichever way it's dressed up it's not arsey. Is factual information. He has hardly been fit for 2 years so the 3 year extension, out of the blue is random.
Not at all this is what the club is doing, buying good young players and making them into very good players to sell and push us further. They obviously see something in him so have give him an extra 2 years as he has missed too many games (by being rushed back by mowbray). My view is he's gonna be a very good player that'll bring a good price.
This is why I laugh when people complain our wage bill is one of the lowest in the league. This allows us , as the players develop and improve we can offer pay rises and deal extensions.
I think he is canny. Just need to see much more of him before offering a 3 year deal (based off last 2 year). Just my opinion.
Could some of Alese’s injuries be down to being an athletic lad but also quite big? He’s still very young in terms of number of first team games. I seem to remember Gerrard having a lot of (back?) issues in his younger days so wondered if it’s a common issue.
Hoping this is the end of his injury worries, I think he's a cracking player and think he will make a great centre half for us and also does a good job at left back
In all fairness had we not have rushed him back he might have avoided this latest injury. Bit of a critism coming here as we never learn, we have players out for lengthy spells then before you know it rather than ease them back in they go straight into sat/tues/sat/tues then it's a huge shock for them when they have a reoccurrence.
