Dare to dream, living the dream and all the bulls**t that that was (nothing wrong with it IMO) but the reality seems to be that the custodians of our club have messed up so badly that despite the lucre of the premiership year (for which I am eternally grateful) we are about to become the Wimbledons, Bradfords, Barnsleys and even Swindon of yesteryears. Dropping at least two Divisions PDQ after the largesse of the premiership.
    Why?
Because we seem to have blown the inheritgance on poor players, managers, coaches; money that was something that BK said would keep us sound for 10 years.
As Rowan Atkinson said on football manager "Lads I'm hurt"
I can forgive the probs with ITV digital but this fiasco for me has to be the last straw.
When we went up we knew what going down would mean. At that time a small two year fraction of the apparent £48 million we are to get.
    Yet we are apparently broke.
That is crass management and for me is unforgiveable because they have messed up the best chance for years of being able to use manna from heaven to
    1) get the ground ship shape
    2) get it into the place it was in the footie hierachy when BL got it for the club in the 50's
    3)Buy the ground.
A time comes in one's life when your team can go on the back burner. that for me was when I was away from here bringing up a young family.
today it is someone who has been a ST holder since the `Orient game, has wasted money on the corporate side, waived his free St and been a Foundation member since its inception. BUT now is a time to reflect and sadly it is to retrench and probably not renew my ST and stop doing a 100 mile round trip 23 plus times per year.
I love my team (I think), but what is the point when we have such crass folk at the helm.
How can anyone mess up £80 million or whatever the sum is after we paid back those who put their heads on the block two years ago?

    A word from our opponents.

Be honest. How far did you get before you realised?

Quite away down. Heard they had financial problems.
Thought they had been more careful than us with the money.

They'll still hump us tomorrow. We never win the games we're meant to, and generally win the ones we're not meant to!

In the past, Yes. But not now, not with this squad.

No, he definitely meant Rowan Atkinson, this was the full sketch(done in a Geordie accent)

    Thirty-seven nil.

Lads, I'm hurt, hurt and ashamed. but let's not panic, it's only half time.

All we've got to do, is score some goals, we've got 45 minutes to score 37 goals.

Don't worry lads, we can do it, why not, they did.

All we have to do is get our tactics right, so let's start with the basics.

Does anybody know what this is?

Come one now, one of ye...

    That's right Davis, it's a football, good.

Now keep an eye out for this, because it's going to be important....

What did happen at Burnley then?

They seemed to be taking a measured approach to promotion, a few decent signings, no big marquee signings, they certainly didn't spunk money like we did and I don't remember Owen landing his helicopter in any of their local schools, who's took all the coin?

Christ - if Burnley's frittered the PL cash there's no hope for anyone in chasing the dream. I thought they just took the money and ran and would now be quids in.

BTW don't they own Turf Moor either?

I was going to question them on what actually happened, but it won't let me register on their site.

Maybe I got banned once and can't remember, that's happened a few times. <laugh>

I have a pal who is a keen Burnley supporter and share holder and worked with me in Hull for several years, and we always went to the games together if we happened to be in the same division. I will ask him what is going on.
