It's ironic that in the last years of the 20th Century Apple was heading towards going belly up and Microsoft was staring at a pending monopoly trial... Microsoft gave money to Apple to keep it afloat (and to avoid lawsuits), and soon after Apple boomed and set up their own monopoly with the iPod and iPhone. Now, 25 years later, Apple is the big ugly monopoly facing charges. Everything being said about Apple is true and will only help the consumer things being forced open... but it's not really a monopoly, not when Android is there as an alternative. In the case of Microsoft back then, and Apple today, a lot of it comes down to being victims of their own success.
On the news they were giving the comparison with Microsoft. I've never ever bought any Apple products. Currently I've got my cheap Chinese phone, that has lasted the longest of any battery I've ever had, for peanuts compared to Apple and no contract... please log in to view this image
We're an apple free household. Currently writing an app that will need iPhone support, for work though, so got an Air on order to compile on. (another example of Apple monopoly... can compile for Android right on my PC, but for Apple, need an apple to compile on). I've barely touched an apple in years. Early days of web development I used to have to because their browser worked a little different so needed access to test on one.

If I got a call from anyone with a voice like that I'd know straight away it was a piss taker, but having said that I probably wouldn’t assume they were intending on lacing my smoothie with a lethal dose of fentanyl for the next prank.
