Off topic but quite funny all the same.

Moped rider fails to outrun cop car

A few drinks, a motorised bicycle, a police checkpoint? No problems, I'll ride through it and outrun `em.

It didn't turn out so straightforward for a Hamilton man who police noticed approaching their checkpoint in the central city on a motorised bicycle on Thursday night.

"The cyclist has refused to stop and driven through the checkpoint ... a patrol car began following the rider and recorded his speed at about 40km/h, probably not the most dramatic fleeing 'drive' we've encountered of late," said Waikato road policing manager, Inspector Leo Tooman.

Officers, in a late model Commodore capable of reaching 100km/h in a few seconds, easily caught up with the rider.

The 43-year-old recorded a breath alcohol reading of 644mcg per litre of breath. The limit is 400mcg.

Trying to outrun police on a machine only capable of 40km/h was "probably not the most well thought out strategy" and "possibly a judgement that was reached that was clouded by alcohol", Insp Tooman said.

The bike has been impounded and the man was charged with failing to stop and driving with excess breath alcohol.

Nah, that’s just those classy dudes. He'd probably get to use his own personal boiler suit with his name specially printed on the back that have held aside for him.
