Slightly better 2nd half, not a lot, but a bit. I thought Liam might have brought on one or two of the better players for the last quarter but obviously doesn't want to take a risk.
Highlight was the commentator pronouncing “Fleming” as “Fleminge” Good run out for them, better than a training session.
I think you make a fair point but if we are trying to build our rep in Turkey, getting schooled by Curacao, currently 91st in the FIFA rankings, will not help. It would have been a better decision not to televise this match if we weren’t going to prioritise it in anyway. Has anything been learnt or gained that couldn't have been done lower key? Hard to know but dreadful exposure for the club.
Exactly. Just have a low key behind closed doors friendly instead. Or else make it a spectacle that showcases the club more than that did!! And why start with Sharp and Connolly? Surely you try to mirror as best you can. Sharp surely was never brought in as a starter, so why not play Connolly for 1st half, Sharp for 2nd (or brought on late on) .... not that we play strikers anyway ... except in friendlies where we play 2!! Only a friendly, but I just don't like the club looking ****.
Yeah he was taking the piss with concussion and shoulder injury when getting taken out. Doesn't he still have the best goals per minutes. Not 100% sure on that but he's definitely up there. He just needs game time to get back fit hence playing this game Don't really get all the hatred towards Connolly
I’m assuming here but I imagine the trip was partially financed by televising the game. I don’t think Acun is stupid enough as well to think that his full squad would go out there. He too will prioritise the team over brand exposure in another country
Same view here. Don't dislike him. And recognise he can be a decent player. But overall he's a waste of space for us. Poor decision, against all the warnings and evidence, to take him on again this season. Along with the poor decision making on Sharp and Ohio, it's likely to cost us dearly.
Impressive looking stadium. Imagine the shrieks about racism, xenophobic Little Englanders if a club in this country had as many St George Crosses on display.
He did pretty well. One heart in mouth moment when he played a ball to Traore who was already marked and it led to a chance. But made a couple of decent saves and his passing is pretty good.
I didn't watch the game so no idea how accurate this post is, but it would be far from the first time Traore has struggled with playing out from the back. For such a skillful player he seems to really struggle with it.
Not saying he hasn't but I find it amazing how much fans rate him but never seen him play and it seems every game he doesn't play he gets better
