But isn't it a bit of an insult to Acun and the Turkish people he's trying to get on board to field such a poor starting 11? Surely play our best 11, who also need to stay match sharp, then bring on subs for 30 mins 2nd half? Put on a show for them?
Think some could start but the collective together won’t look great due to lack of game time and not playing together. Hence the need for this game
the difference in individual quality is massive between these and the starters though i hope none of these start vs stoke..
I don’t think it’s that stark for some. Tufan, Connolly and Macca have all given valuable minutes. Jacob is coming into his own and looked good when played. I agree some look a bit short of the standard but again that’s why they’re probably playing in this game. Get minutes in the legs and see if anyone puts a shift in to warrant making a selection headache
yea i know tufan has it, but with the rest of the team, hes got nothing to do anything with its a friendly ofcourse dont even know what to say about connoly or sharp can tell why theyve not been starting
Poor first half, they are half a yard quicker than us, no one really stood out, hopefully a better 2nd half.
Number of players who have put a hand up for a regular starting place = 0 Connolly has looked particularly hopeless.
Thought Furlong looked ok, put some good balls in, including the chance for Tufan. Too many of them look completely unfit though. Connolly especially is a bit of a disgrace.
We didn’t get close to scoring though, that’s still a concern. The one time we were through, Connolly miscontrolled it. He looks a shadow of his former self. Wonder if he’s been told he isn’t been given a new contract (not ITK on that, but his body language is very negative).

I guess Tufan had a good effort saved early on, but Connolly has look very rusty. I'm not sure he would have been told, Liam usually says nothing will be discussed until the season's over. I just think he has been out for a while and is just rusty, and looks a bit over weight to me.
All a bit embarrassing from what I saw of that 1st half, even allowing for the fact that many are not starters! I didn't see it all tbf. We try to play it out from the back, ball goes into midfield or out wide only for it to be pinged straight back (or lost). It's pretty ****e. Saw nothing up front (as usual). Hopefully a better 2nd half showing. I know it's only a friendly, but we surely should be trying our best to showcase the club shouldn't we?
