I like the sound of that, free flowing is all well and good but you need a solid foundation to succeed, even this year if we’d managed to keep clean sheets more often we could be in the play off mix still

Why marra? His only experience at our level was Cardiff, which didn't go particularly well.

That he starts well enough, but can't deal with players with egos similar to his own. That he can't manage his way out of a crisis, he has to ditch what he has and buy. That he can't do what all managers who were famous disciplinarians could do - know when to give a little.

I know what you’re saying but that thought never stopped united taking him on at a higher level.

And he doesn't want to live in Sunderland.

    Yeah, agreed. Not ideal.

I know, but I wouldn't say that Man U were being particularly well run at the time. It had the feeling of a "fingers crossed and hope....he's come off the subs bench for us before" , kind of appointment.

I'm still not seeing the attraction of Will Still. Just my opinion .

After reflecting on that list of, apparently available and being touted, people,I think I'd go for Cooper too.

Mike Dodds is still expecting to remain in charge for the rest of the campaign but has confirmed that Sunderland's search for Michael Beale's permanent successor is underway.
Dodds has taken charge of five games since Beale's departure in February, but has been unable to bring an end to the club's winless run amid a lengthy list of injuries and suspensions. The interim head coach says that the club are open to bringing forward the appointment if they find the right candidate before the end of the campaign, but added that they are determined not to rush into a decision. As such, he is highly likely to remain in post as interim boss until the summer.
Sunderland have begun to speak to candidates on their shortlist and intend to conduct a thorough process ahead of a summer appointment.
"The last conversation that I had, and this was prior to the last couple of games, was that they had shortlisted a number of potential candidates and that they were going to take their time in speaking to those people," Dodds explained.
"They want to make sure that they get the next appointment right and they don't want to rush that decision.
"If they feel like they've got the right candidate tomorrow, they will be in the day after tomorrow obviously. If they don't, they will wait. That was the message that I was given a few weeks back and I've not been told that anything has changed. If anything changes they will communicate that with me. We've got some big games coming up because we need to change the feeling of the football club, and we know that the best way to do that is to win games of football."
Dodds is hoping that his task will be aided by the return of a number of key players for the Easter fixtures, with Luke O'Nien back from suspension. Aji Alese, Corry Evans and Bradley Dack are all expected to return to the bench while Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts could yet make a comeback depending on how they progress in their rehab over the next week."

I pm'd this to a poster on here and Grumpy on RTG, the other day. The meetings are taking place away from Sunderland which is great imo, stops all the daft 'sightings' posts from the AOL etc.
I've told those two people the only name that I've heard so I can come on here and <party>if it turns out to be correct.

It is mate but I'm not going to be drawn on it. I've only been given info because I keep my mouth shut. I've started to pm people so there's a trace, in that way if there's anything I can post they can back it up if they feel like it. The poster on here is a stranger, not a personal friend, who's recently told me about other issues that turned out to be correct.

He's a TV pundit and celebrity.

Bringing him in would appease fans and get publicity for the owners, but how well would he work alongside Speakman and co?

Is it a name that has been mentioned/gets regularly mentioned or one out the blue?

That might be given too much away to be fair!
