Mate, the playoff final is the day after what was planned for my fiftieth. And I just postponed my party as a result! There's confidence for you (I'll take the flak from my wife if we get automatic though!)
It's more about how I'd feel on the 26th if I had a 50th on the 25th, when I'd also be looking to go to the game if we're in it...
So finishing 3rd is definitely preferable from an away travel point of view. At least there's not much chance of Hull on the Monday night.
If we manage to finish on 92points and still not make it, Then that is still some feat and one where the club nor the fans can really say that we have failed.
I wonder if this is a crazy season or a new normal. Whoever comes down next season will have a super strong squad relative to whats here now and plenty in the bank. The relegated seem to also have access to the best loanee's. Like anything these days people find ways to game the system and get every advantage possible. Ipswich is the outlier. For a team to come up from L1 and achieve the points they have this season is really remarkable, I dont see that happening next season.
I agree with the bottom sentence too, I think Ipswich much like ourselves are just carrying on from proper momentum, and the fact we had actual premier league quality in our first team. Those coming down next season i dnt see them being anywhere near as strong as Us, Leicester and Leeds personally and id say we are the weakest of the 3 teams. Should we fail to gain promotion i have every hope that we could do it next year.
I reckon yes and no. Yes, as in, its now normal for the winners of the league to be a relegated side. But also no, I don't think the three relegated sides will be this strong every season.
Depends how we do in the play offs. If we finish on 92 points but then lose to somebody in the play offs who had nearly 20 points less than I think that'd prob be considered a failure. This year more than most should be having the 3rd and 4th teams contesting the play off final. Suspect the clubs ambitions at the start of the season were a very black and white 'promotion'.
Blackburn away tickets purchased Really looking forward to this one, another ground to cross off the list. Anyone else going?
