My fave band of that post punk / goth / indie era would have to be Jesus and Mary Chain

I like the early stuff by The Cure and really didn't like them when they got commercial.

Ignore the Valentines bit, not looked at this account for a short while, posted it because no vocals, you can fill them in yourself...

I enjoyed the cover version without the vocals, but I normally do. I think the drummer ruins the intro, I think the drummer was in a pissed off mood at the time, because they had rehearsed it so many times when putting it together (something like that anyway), hence why you get the tap tap tap, seemed to work though, I don't know what that thing is called the drummer is striking (no not the drums lol).

I stumbled on the song by accident, I only got here because I was reading up on Randy Rhoads, who was a guitarist and co-song writer for Ozzy Osbourne. Randy died at the young age of 25, after a very short light aircraft flight turned to disaster, also ripping the top off their tour bus, only one band member witnessed the tragedy in it's entirety as the others were a sleep including Sharon Osbourne I believe.

The story goes that Randy was the top guitarist at the time in the world, so who could inspire such a fella, that person was Leslie West, hence how I got to Mississipi Queen.

Anyway Luv and Gessa are knowledgeable on bands, so sure they will fill in any inaccuracies in my understanding,

Mountain were a band I got into when I was about 17/18, loved the Weekend World theme tune, found out it was them, went out and bought their Nantucket Sleighride album from a second hand store for a couple of quid, turns out, its a first pressing, last time I looked, worth about £150. Got all their studio albums on vinyl and some solo albums they've done.

Saw Randy Rhoads with Ozzy on the Blizzard of Oz tour, very much a showman. Died about a year later. Went to see Glenn Hughes once and he started talking about great guitarists, as it was the anniversary of Tommy Bolin's death, mentioned Rhoads as one of the most talented he had worked with, along with Bolin and Mel Galley, who happened to be a close friend of my father in laws.
