The (15:45) at Wetherby, a Class-3 Handicap Chase over a distance just over 3m on soft ground, is certainly a competitive affair. Will take a chance with the Westerner gelding, Donny Boy, who may well run a good race at a decent price? Lorcan Williams rides for the Nick Alexander yard.

15/2 (BetVictor/BetUK) top price early-doors, on the ATR site. E/W best option at these odds.

    Beveragino - 6.30 Wolves

It looks a race that will have a strong pace and if it can get across in front of the hold up horses, I expect to see her finishing off well. The jockey booking catches the eye.

    12/1 4 places with BET365.

Feel I should edit the above post, as I was indeed careless not to mention that Donny Boy was a huge drifter in the market today, no doubt because he is unsuited to the ground conditions prevailing at Wetherby. Although it should be a dry day at the track, the ground will still be too tacky for the horse. Shame really, as trainer said on his site that Donny has been 'at the ready' for a while now, but does prefer decent ground. Never mind, can't change anything now, so will have to hope he can handle the going at the track this afternoon.

I know, "excuses excuses" I can hear you say! <laugh>

Well, 3rd of the 6-runners. Definitely one for the notebook. He'll do a lot better when he eventually gets good ground.

Finished 3rd. Ran a cracker. Front 3 pulled clear of the rest.
