Went too Budapest last weekend. Great City, cheap beer and great culture. We went to the 'Shoes on the Danube'. A WW2 memorial to the Jews who.where lined up against the Danube and had there shoes stolen off them and then shot into the river.
That’s an emotional memorial. Went to see it a few years ago Out of interest what’s a pint cost in Budapest now?
Just crossed the Arctic Circle cruising back from Narvik and Tromsø. Bloody freezing and snowing outside but glorious sunshine as well, with incredible views. - Reminds me of the old days but I’m now quite happy to be holed up in the Observation Lounge. Stella, six quid a pint.
Well you took your time, well over a century to get from the Antarctic to the Arctic, slack *****. *©Steverico. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
The cheapest was £1.63 and most expensive about £3.50. We paid £38 for two pints, three glasses of wine and two, two course Italian meal.
Nicest Greek Island & resort please? Pretty / quaint, nice beach, with interesting (*) things to see in & around not to far away (*culture, history, etc).
Crete? We stayed in Almyrida, to the east of Chania. Quite low key but with some charm. Chania is worth a visit, some historical sites within an hours drive. Walking in Samaria Gorge if that's of interest.
We went Gouves in Crete last year. Chilled, some great beaches and plently of sports bars to watch the football in.
We’re staying just to the west of Chania in May. We have stayed in Crete before, and love the island, as well as Chania. We generally go away in May to avoid the crowds, and Crete is one of the warmer and more settled islands that early. We have had some rain in other islands. We usually hire a car and drive around the island. If City reach the playoffs, gonna have to find a suitable bar!!!
Just in Fuertuventura at the mo. Nice meal tonight but the waiter kept talking to me in German. Ah well live and let live. Still tipped him.
Been mostly to Spain (mainland & islands), but have tried Cyprus (Paphos area) and Crete (Lyttos Beach). Not been to other Greek Islands, hence question. Wondering where in Kos and Corfu you'd recommend? Like a nice beach, walks, pretty, a few bars & shops but not too busy & touristy. Ta
I've been to Cyprus, Kos, Santorini, Zakynthos, Poros and most recently Kassandra and they were all great.
Conversation overheard. "My missus has just gone to Kingston.." "Jamaica?" "Nah...Nowt to do with me. She wanted to go." Hat, coat, espadrilles. It is a quiet Tuesday.
