FOUR POINTS DEDUCTION FOR NOTTINGHAM FOREST. Nottingham Forest hit with points deduction by Premier League after financial breach Nuno Espirito Santo's team have dropped into the relegation zone following announcement of points deduction for breaking Premier League's profit and sustainability rules Nottingham Forest hit with points deduction by Premier League after financial breach - Mirror Online
They survived ahead of Leicester by that exact amount. Justice will somewhat be done if they are relegated and leicester are promoted. Mind you leicester arent exactly innocent either
club comes.up. knowing splurged massive amount and broken rules to scrape home. rewarded by over 100mil.in TV money. knowingly doesn't fix it by balancing books so they could try claim money in both seasons so they could sepdn even more. tbh if that's the level of punishment every owner who comes up or wants to survive should do a chelsea if they feel like it.
You're right, a four point deduction is no deterrent whatsoever. I think the PL, although they don't want to, has to come up with some sort of formula or rising sanction scale that will stop the financial rule breaking. We saw with the Everton case that it was just a number plucked out of the air that was easily diminished on appeal.
and forest will appeal too. I fail to see the reasoning behind thier fine either as the details come out and show that they have breached by more than Everton.
the appeal tribunal ruled that in 2 of the decisions both of which counted as 2pt deduction were wrong in law for some reason so all the next lot has to do is make sure they have ticked each box and it should stand
from what I see which is very high level everton were about 20mil over and deducted 6 (in the end) but were said to he cooperative forest are 38mil over and deducted 4mil. so how does this work?
I don't think that's correct. The original ruling didn't put a specific amount of points against each misdemeanor. Everton appealed against 9 parts of the ruling, 7 of them were dismissed and the other 2 were seen to be not lawful because they were introduced by the Board who are only supposed to investigate the charges made, not introduce more ways in which Everton broke the rules. It doesn't mention anywhere how they came up with the points. The appeal panel just felt that a 6 point deduction was more appropriate than 10.
Just reading through the decision and they say that the independent Commission came to the conclusion that an 8 point deduction for Forest was fair but the PL said the sanction should be discounted by 2 points for an 'early plea and cooperation" making it a 6 point deduction. There is then a lot of talk about it being a "unique" case but no mention of how they came to deduct a further 2 points. They then lay out a table of how they came to the 4 point sanction which doesn't seem to bear out what's been said previously - Entry point for a significant breach = 3points Circumstances / scale of breach =3 points Less: mitigation = --2points (that's minus 2)
so a random take 2 off hidden someplace with no context. transparent? I mean if they say 3 if there's any breach up front for everyone to know then OK we know. (Leicester would have sacked Rodgers early last year if they knew) then 3 which kind of sound like 1 per 10 mil the 2 off for cooperating like the rules say you are supposed to. why? it should be a clear no cooperation extra punishment level that's applied on top not a discount. everton will be back with another appeal from this. they clearly cooperated and breached by less so should only be on 4 themselves.
It's more complicated than Everton's case because part of the breach occurred when Forest were in the Championship with the EFL having different rules.
Apparently was 3 for the breach. 3 more for the circumstances and scale But 2 points back for their cooperation. Be interesting what city’s punishment. -700 just for the lack of cooperation
20 points should mean automatic relegation . 40 points down two. If they lose 5 points per fault... So 250 points or so... Should go down 12 divisions. Unfortunately, I think it only goes does to 10 tiers. North West Counties, division one south is as far as they can go. Playing against such luminaries as Cheadle Heath Nomads and Winsford United. But force them to stay there for two years since can't be relegated further. It's only fair.
