I'd say that Wolves' stoppage time bottle job was the worst one I've seen lately...but then I remembered Luton's second half against Bournemouth the other day
Hopefully the game in hand can be done and dusted while Villa still have EL2 distractions. That aside, the margins for error are now very fine for both teams.
FA cup SFs : Coventry vs Man Utd Citeh vs Chelsea Romance of the FA cup. and El plastico. Which of Man Utd or Kings Rd FC do people think Coventry would have more chance of beating if the draw had gone so ??
I didn't see the highlights but I understand the VAR disallowed goal that stopped WetSpam beating Villa was probably correct. Main problem though was that it apparently took five minutes to decide? If so that is way too long. There is already a suggestion that the VAR delay contributed to the VDV injury against Chelsea (and may have cascaded into other problems for us), but five minutes is too long to halt a match. There will certainly be more injuries resulting from it. I would say that once it reaches a certain point (maybe five minutes?) the game cannot resume without a warm up. This is clearly "not ideal", so surely a better idea is to put a time limit on VAR deliberation to say two minutes. The idea being that if a decision takes more than two minutes it isn't "clear and obvious". Having said that, people have also commented that the particular decision yesterday was reasonably obvious straight away. But whatever the answer, it isn't VAR being allowed an indefinite time to consider like it is now.
I think the problem is the in house nature of the decision makers. Refs watching over their mates and in consequence being restrained from making quick firm decisions. If we are to continue with VAR (which I suppose we will) then it needs to be independent from the refs. The other alternative would be to just call the ref to the screen immediately so that he can verify his own decision with no one else involved apart from suggesting a further look.
Forest deducted four points At this point it's worth asking if somebody at The FA has an accumulator they are determined to make sure happens
