BBC reveals F1 coverage schedule for 2012 The BBC has revealed its coverage plans for all Formula 1 races in 2012. Ten races will be shown live on BBC One, including the British, Monaco and season-ending Brazilian grands prix. Of the other 10, there will be extended highlights programmes on BBC One, of either 90-minute or two-hour duration depending on race location. Races in the Far Eastern time zone will have highlights broadcast on BBC One at 1400, with those in the European time zone getting 90 minutes at 1730. The races that will be shown live on BBC One and BBC HD are: China (15 April), Spain (13 May), Monaco (27 May), Europe (24 June), Britain (8 July), Belgium (2 September), Singapore (23 September), Korea (14 October), Abu Dhabi (4 November) and Brazil (25 November). The BBC's coverage of all the live races will be as extensive as ever, with all the action on and off the track across TV, radio, online, red button and mobile. For the live races the BBC will have the F1 forum Basically 2hr highlights for the early races and 90mins for the daytime races and 75mins for Qualifying Not too horrific sounding in theory.
Great we get Valencia and Abu Dhabi and not Suzuka and Monza. And not the opening race either. **** Sky, **** BBC, it will be internet streams for me. EDIT: Forgot about Montreal as well.
disgraceful - we dont get Montreal, Monza, Suzuka, Australia four of the best races in my opinion - we dont want valencia and spain!!! The BBC better get a grip or they are gonna lose alot of viewers all round.
Before I get picked up on my "not too horrific" line thats to do with the highlights package, not the races
Lol Korea... BBC you may be stitched up there as the race is possible of being called off! Little dissapointed they wont have the opener yet im not bothered as I wont be watching the BBC or SKY
Korea, Europe and Abu Dhabi. I thought they said they would be showing the most important events on the calender. 4 of the only 6 tracks i really like aren't on their list.
I am absolutely ****ing disgusted at the BBC. How on earth can they abandon Canada and Austrailia? We could all yawn when they are at Abu Dhabi, and Valencia is the most boring street track ever. I would also like to say that the BBC have already told us lies. They said that the first race was going to be shown live. Well it isn't. They are making cuts and yet they are so desperate to get coverage of people doping themselves to run fast AKA Athletics
Only just noticed how long the highlights are. 1 and half to two hours. Thats 90% of the race. Guess how bad that is depends on the race. i could deal with the asian race highlights at two. but European races i will have to watch on sky. Now way id last to half 5 without curiosity getting the better of me. I dont actually think its that bad on review. Even if the 10 races they picked were poorly chosen.
Do the 90/120mins include the entire show ie. opening stuff, and after race stuff or is that how much of the actual race that will be shown?
On second look it seems to be the length of the program, but how much pre/post race stuff can they really do when its highlights? If its anymore than half an hour combined it will look stupid.
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/tomcary/100021994/bbc-race-picks-disappoint-fans-but-aunties-hands-were-tied/ Some information regarding how they picked the races, still think we got shafted though
Yep, I don't think a lot of people understood how these were being picked. Abu Dhabi's an important one because it's the penultimate race and the Beeb won't want to miss out if it's a close race, also, Jake seems to like Abu Dhabi because of the facilities, he actually criticised India for not being as good as Abu Dhabi on the Indian forum and then had a face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle for the rest of the show. Gutted they picked Valencia though, that should have been last, meaning it would've been left with Sky.
