Teams play differently in European competitions. Look how long it took city to win the CL while completely dominating in the league. Same with Arsenal during a period of domestic dominance in late 90's - early 00's, they did nothing in Europe.
the games are reffed differently. the teams are in general better coached and can defend competently. in the end it only takes one bad showing to be out on Europe so you.can knock on the door for a long time before you get the run. if you are consistently one of the best teams you'll be going further it's that simple.
We won two of our CL's while finishing 5th in the league. We are a great example of how results in Europe don't reflect domestic results. We have European 'pedigree' that (on paper) better teams can't match. My main point really, following on from what others have said, you don't have to be doing amazingly in your league to pull off some great results in Europe.
we won through madness of anfield after being thumped at Barca and we won in 2005 through defending like dogs and getting the goal v Chelsea and juve. city don't have the madness of anfield and never will. arsenal could never defend like that under wenger and the Emirates was never a loud crowd. chelsea were **** houses every single time they frauded their way to the titles. all the money but in the end it was ultra negative each time they won
the only result I'd perfer is asteroid strike. newcastle have gone from ahead of schedule to absolute joke and lucky to be top half. all the fake revenue in the world won't fix the issues they will have
take anfield away and we would not be. be it a combination of history and legend or an actual thing that really affect players we all saw messi's knees knocking. Emirates, old Trafford, the City stolenbowl, none of them can touch it.
spurs loss means they need to get more than 1 point per game more than us. it's all but assured us of top 4.
Arsenal have had a good streak of high-scoring games but we've been fairly consistent all season. If their streak fizzles out, I expect we'll have a better GD anyway by the end of the season. City's seems quite poor for them, though I cba checking it against previous seasons.
they had a nice grouping of games as well but had to get over their dodgy spell. they now have to take on city. we have to be absolutely ruthless in games and that means putting 8 or 9 on sheff utd.
I know leciester kit is technically black with a blue sash. But if you’re home kit is blue, surely you don’t pick a black and blue away kit? so easy to just introduce a rule that your away kit has to be vastly different, there’s no need for an away kit to even be close to home. Chelsea v Leicester both wearing blueish tops and shorts.
