I've got a good friend who's a Southend fan. Him and his son have been involved in the fans' movement that leant money to club and are still doing bits and pieces to do with the club. He laughed when he heard that some of our fans were getting upset about some signs.

My God. You don't get it. I guarantee you're not from Sunderland.

Anyway. I digress. (Some signs though) Ffs.

It was an 'international incident' apparently <laugh>

Like I keep saying I don't disagree but the buying of younger players was essential over the last 2 to 3 years to enable the club to develop as it had been decimated by the previous regime. Buying too many older players at that time would have been a mistake as we have had to rebuild a solid base from which to work. That was not here previously and it has meant we have had to develop young players in the first team effectively using an under 23 squad as the first team.
We do need some more established players and for the fist time we now look like we can start to trade/move some of our younger players around and then look for the right blend to supplement what we have where previously our options on that front were very limited due to numbers and the fact our youth teams were not up to scratch.
Over the last 2 years this has changed and as a club we look like we are starting to build a solid base to move forward but I guess that is not as important to some fans who were probably the same fans screaming out for the club to have a plan.
That plan is in place and patience is required to see if it will work. I admit my hopes for this season were much loftier than where we sit now but I still think patience is require or we may just end up back where we started just over 2 years ago.
That's the problem, a lot of our fans don't have any patience, it's been a bit disappointing this season but it's only our 2nd season back in the championship.

You may be but lots of others are not. Thats the damage that this gross incompetence has caused.

This is true actually - I've cancelled our 3 direct debits for season tickets and we've only gone to 2 games since that game. It's really sucked the enthusiasm out of us, it's sickened us actually on top of the woeful managerial appointment and now the 2 unsackable junior coaches.
I say this and for context my first game at Roker park was 1976/7 season.

There are lots from the north stand who are doing the same. Generations of fans who are rightly furious.

Just some signs though.....

It was.

Yahoo, sports illustrated, the athletic are just a few who published pieces on this. All internationally.

An international incident, like this one?

It's neither from me, jealous not at all, disgusted at how they treated the fans over BCB then just swept it.
Animosity at kld and ks a bit yes but, I like the rest just want them to see from our side what they have done to us, as others have said the BCB scandal shows what they think of us.
The BCB scandal, it wasn't a scandal, it was a mistake that was corrected. The only people that mention it are some obsessed fans like you. Even mags don't mention it.

Speakman needs to go back to being an academy manager and a really experienced D.O.F needs to be given the role.
Trouble is now he's just came out and said he doesn't want to go back and he wants to become a head coach. For me he's should stick to what he's good at and what has got him this far in his career as I don't think he'll ever make it as the one person in charge

The contempt is staggering. How some total incompetents are still employed shows to me the disregard the ownership has for the supporters.

You are confusing speakman for Dodds but your point is probably still valid. Ironically.

Furious with what? A bad run of form and they pack in going to games. Honestly the way some are going on you would think we were being run like Reading

The mag show. Nowt to do with results. These were going before I was and had season tickets in league one.

It was a disgrace and showed how utterly out of touch and incompetent the club is off the pitch. Simple as that and the fact nothing has changed personnel wise since leaves a really sour taste.
