Imo they’ve signed players where they’ve seen an opportunity to make money and that’s why they’re playing week in week out to drive up their price. If they sell a few this summer and reinvest big style then fair play it’s worked, if not and we use the money to sign another dozen teenagers to warm the bench. Neil is the easiest replaced for me. If he left I’d be more than happy with Jobe or Ekwah playing as the 8 and reinvesting the money all over the pitch. No more pissing about, no more excuses about the market being tricky, go and sign the players that can make a difference and make a statement.
If the long game is selling the club at a profit then KLD will have to leave us in a much, much better position than when he bought us. If he does that I for one will say thank you. A football club is only worth what someone will pay for it after all.
Can't agree with your comment about Neil being easier to replace, take him out of midfield and we have nothing
Only bit of quality we had today. I’m torn with Neil. I love the lad but a part of me would love to see him performing in a good prem team. Unfortunately think that may happen in the summer from everything I hear in my limited circle of lads with contacts to various clubs. The vultures are circling
I wouldn't be suprised, he's still developing but will no doubt end up in the premier league sooner rather than later
We know Dodds will go back to being a coach, I'd also like to see Speakman revert to academy manager and get an experienced D.O.F in. We also need to sign an experienced spine for the team Gk, Cb, Cm and Cf that are championship ready.
Great post mate. It's a disastrous second half of the season that did not need to happen, but has, because of poor decisions made by the ownership and the board of directors. An embarrassing **** show from all involved.
There was a scout from a Portuguese club there today looking at him I got a message 'well that was boring' from him - think he was being polite He told me his club are monitoring neil for a potential move in the summer - he didn't say if any bids etc been put in
As I said mate, I wouldn't be suprised if he attracted bids in the summer. Be good if he went abroad to a decent club and not follow the 'usual' route
Take him out of the midfield and Ekwah will fill his boots no problem. Neil has came on well this season but he’s not as good as some of our fans make out. He’ll get his PL move but unless something drastic happens he won’t be a regular for one of the big boys, absolutely no chance. He’s not even the best young midfielder in the league. We’ve got nobody to replace Clarke whatsoever none of our wingers are anywhere near his level.
Thats a bold statement about ekwah filling neils boots. Ekwah has been poor this season n hasnt kicked on at all, hence why hes been dropped Neil has been one of the best CMs in the league this season, rated as 3rd or 4th best CM on wyscout last time i checked (2 weeks ago) I dont think Neil will go to 1 of the top teams but he'll have a good career in the PL imo Hes carried our midfield pretty much all season. If we had a proper cdm, neil would be even better as he needs to be able to go box to box to get tge best out of him
True, but he’d shown glimpses hence his big money move. If we were to lose Neil, Ballard or Clarke tomorrow I’d be least worried about having to fill the 8 role. We’re stacked with midfielders who have everything to be an 8 yet play elsewhere.
Sick of having the life sucked out of me on a Saturday. I hope (but doubt) that the players feel as bad as I do.
Neil is decent but we’ve established he’s hopeless in front of goal and can’t really play as a 6. He’s limited to the 8 which he does play well but we’ve got Ekwah and Jobe who have all of the attributes to do what Neil does. I’d be surprised if we sell him and sign someone to replace him rather than moving Ekwah there. Have to remember Neil was also dropped in L1 because he was poor toward the end of the season. Good player but not irreplaceable.
I have to disagree with that, Neil’s turn of pace and range of low forward passing is the best at the club, if we had a decent centre forward this season I’ve no doubt Neil would have split the defence to find him, no one splits the lines like him.
Could argue if we had a decent midfield they would’ve found the striker.. what do you mean low forward passing he’s an 8 that should be the least he should be doing. As I’ve mentioned he can’t play as a 6 and he couldn’t kick my arse if I was bent over in front over him so he’s limited to playing that 8 role which he plays fairly well but he’s not as good as some on here think. Comparing him to Hendo is laughable.
